whats the diff between a place diverter and a jetoverter
One is made by "Place" and they called it a diverter . Berkely called there's a "Jet-o-vator" . From what I hear the "Place" unit will give you a little more angle too.

any one looking for a place diverter just been powder coated $450 or best offer
-
i need that for the big finally.to the madness im creating.for this next season ;D
-
place has them for 453 new
-
I paid a grand for my entire place setup - large rudder, hyd controls, steering wheel botton, trim gauge, underslung cables....
-
place has them for 453 new
And they want $226 for the handle

::)
When you get right down to it, if you're looking for a premuim part, like a droop or a divertor, 99 times out of a hundred you're going to pay a premium price even on used parts. Why? Because they are worth it.

ok easy now

Re Place Diverter vs Jet o vater
Except for the Berk "E" and "F" pumps which use a "gimble" hsg (a whole different issue) . The big difference is that Jet o vator (developed by Berkeley themselves ) has slightly less up down "range of motion" ,requires lenghthening and shortening of the steer tube assy to effect up and down motion of the nozzel (it trims before it steers) JOV's can be Electric (window motor and cable or manual ,43 c series cable and shifter) The JOV has lots of small parts and linkage to "rig" and doesnt work well IMO with droops etc. Place Diverter steers before they trim have more "up/down" less complicated to attach and rig ,are very versital and simple to use ,install and "rig" . Be careful if you do buy a used JOV that you get ALL the small parts and pieces to set it up .Mike unfortunatley you cannot effectively use one on your setup Hope this helps more info if needed Tom
Current JBP price for complete Manual Kit $619 ,Complete Hyd $739

They typically use a 43bc cable about 8'-9' or longer depending on the mounting location of the box, and yes they are readilly available.

Well, you can't have that, but if you're an American citizen you are entitled to:
a heated kidney shaped pool,
a microwave oven--don't watch the food cook,
a Dyna-Gym--I'll personally demonstrate it in the privacy of your own home,
a kingsize Titanic unsinkable Molly Brown waterbed with polybendum,
a foolproof plan and an airtight alibi,
real simulated Indian jewelry,
a Gucci shoetree,
a year's supply of antibiotics,
a personally autographed picture of Randy Mantooth
and Bob Dylan's new unlisted phone number,
a beautifully restored 3rd Reich swizzle stick,
Rosemary's baby,
a dream date in kneepads with Paul Williams,
a new Matador,

a Las Vegas wedding,
a Mexican divorce,
a solid gold Kama Sutra coffee pot,
or a baby's arm holding an apple

Wow Tom, the competition is stepping it up! Even if you were $100 more expensive you'd still have my business. Lucky for all of us you're still cheaper....

I'm just glad to see that one of the big vendors is still thinkin about us jetboaters . Remember guys , WE have to support the industry , or else our parts will only be available at the swapmeets or Rods garage . ;D Good job guys !

I sold a very used Jet-O-Vater today for over $250, missing steering parts, a cable, and a controller. I also sold a used Place Diverter control for over $100 and a used cable for over $50. So for more than $400 you can buy a used Jet-O-Vater on eBay, be missing parts, and have a used divertor on your boat when you're done. OR, you can make a phone call and get everything brand new (Place Diverter) and have all the parts required to make it work right, for not much more money. [attachimg=#]

you know i had a pretty good rant typed out but its just not worth it.......
tom you have my support ;)

"Cheaper" is such an ugly word, I prefer less expensive ;D ;D ;D
BTW My dad say's he may be cheap but he's not easy ;)
-
Other people may not see it, but I have seen it and the other "guy" wont be holding any of my money.
Less expensive is right, but one part is missing. That lower price is for an identical product.
As of right now, I have a brand new boat and it hasn't needed parts except for an exhaust gasket.

Thanks U/D and Omar, As I'm certain most of you know, with energy costs on the rise comes increased cost at the "wholesale" level too. As retail sales wane in a slower economy, the competition for the $$ in any given market becomes a mite more fierce ('cept for gas ;)). What really matters to us (Josh, Rhonda and myself) and hopefully to you is solid Customer service! This to me is not just getting your part to you on the brown truck in time, but informed, friendly service both during and after the sale, non combative returns, honesty, integrity and treating you like a friend, not a "mark", not "just another customer", and certainly not an inconvenience or an unwelcome interuption! The best deal is truly not always the lowest price. This is still a place where you can call and talk to the owner.
I personally find a bit of frustration, for example, in the new E-Commerce merchants who have very little (or almost no overhead), and do the majority their of B'ness by the "no touch drop ship" method and thus are able to work at a very small profit margin and get by. Also there are the people that frequent sites and forums who have little interest in what's really going on (not participating in general discussions, etc.) but post simply to make sales and advertize with only profit for motive, no real contribution, no commradery, just in it for the buck.
We (JBP) feel like we are a truly a part of this socaljetboats web site. Do we glean sales as result of our presence and support here ? Absolutley, but the help, information, advice and friendship comes with "No strings". We regularly offer help where we know the parts came from "elsewhere",or no purchase was made at all and ask nothing in return.
15 years ago I set out to create a business dedicated to Jets and V-drive boats. The goal was to have fun, enjoy what I was doing, and provide parts and service at realistic prices. That commitment remains today and won't change!
As always, Thanks Socal (and thanks Brad) for the continued support. Tom

thanks for everything you guys do, i know from my own experience with you that i will not go elsewhere, there is no need. the customer service, price and ability to talk to you go along way with customers. I have never had another supplier/shop owner offer there cell phone # to call after hours if i was having problems with the assembly of my boat. for that i am very thankful (even though i did not use it, it was the offer of it that floored me), and seeing/reading what is offered to other members of this board by jbp makes you guys head and shoulders above the competition.. thanks again.
-
I've asked for help a couple of times and received it, never handed you guys a dime... Despite a lack of benefit to you- you have offered me help anytime I've asked and even offered a storage space in the interest of keeping a legacy alive. For that I am thankful. You guys keep up the good work. As far as parts go, Dave had taken good care of me before I met you guys...
-
2sav call me ! Bill your package should arrive friday,Colby thanks again! (btw Dave and I chatted last week, thanks for the help)

Well that may be true - but I absolutely needed my short timeframe ordered parts here last Tuesday - and they showed up on Tuesday. So I say you can do both :-)

Thanks Brian !

You guys got the ice broken, huh? I know Dave has some exciting stuff coming around... Hopefully he'll let you guys market some. Dave's a great guy with some great product.
