Hi Every one. Awesome web site! I hope some one can lead me in the right direction. I picked up this Southwind cruiser 20'. Runs great BBF with a Berkeley Pump. About 15sec after I put my foot in it the nose starts bouncing and you have to let off and get it back in the water. It has a manual place diverter but no ride plates. I have had a few jets in the past but never came across this problem. Any advise would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

I had a mid 80's 19' Howard Sport Jet. Powered by Gale Banks twin turbo BBC. Same problem and this thing had plenty of power. Just my opinion, but I think it's a hook on the bottom of the boat. Also my bro-in-law has a 95' 21' Ultra jet with open bow. Stock 454 power and same problem too. Even at regular cruising speed on glass smooth water it porpoises. Just my opinion, but definitely think it's a hook in the hull.

Too much center strake.
They need a ride plate to rock back on.

i heard the same thing recently....well, sort of. lifting strakes apparently go too far back.... to remove or reduce looks like a bit of work to me....

Im gonna try a few of ur suggestions as the Southwind name has some sentiment in my family..but the pocket book only runs so deep..lol...thanks again everyone!

I'll take a blind shot here....
I know they make hull extension for some stand up jetskis, perhaps some can be made and mounted on the Southwind hull? Or maybe a ride plate the spans the width between lifting strakes near keel...? ???

Hey. I just wanted to thank every one who gave some hints as to fix this problem. I picked up some trim-N-step trim tabs from a fellow member, installed them and I ran it today at Ellsinore and she ran perfect! no more porpoise. Thanks again guys!
