Title: Possible thrust bearing
Post by: sdbuckhunter on April 22, 2020, 01:44:28 PM
Took my boat out in late January and noticed a slight whining noise which got louder with more throttle. I was told by someone to grease the thrust bearing and see it that works and two others say just get it fixed. Any thought?

Pull the handhole cover and see if there is any play in the impeller shaft.

It's cheap insurance to have it rebuilt if suspect it's having issues. It's a heck of a lot cheaper than grenading a pump and potentially ruining your engine when the trust beating lets go. Ask me how I know...

No play at all with impeller shaft.
