Got one from cp and is different threads than what was previously tapped (1/8npt).
The new is bigger not sure what size threads.
Does this guy have to be mounted in the vertical position? Or is horizontal ok?
Hope I can find a reducer fitting bc I really don't wanna drill and tap the pump while it's in t hg e boat.
Anyone else run into this problem?

Yes, it needs to be installed at the highest (12 o'clock) position so the air bleeds out, allowing the impeller to be submerged.
The threads on the Prime-a-jet are 1/4-NPT. A brass 1/8 pipe to 1/4 pipe reducer should be readily available.
A ball valve may have been installed prior.

Prime a jet said it should be on the bowl but this is the provision I have to work with rite now.

No, that won't work. It has to be on the top of the bowl so all the air can bleed out. There is no air where that little brass plug is located.

Flusher and Texas jet have been around this stuff WAY longer than I have! But I had a place craft that the previous owner had actually tapped the center of the hand hole cover and had a 1/8 mip x 1/8 barb fitting on it with a short pice of hose and a ball valve mounted to the back of the motor plate, if you didn't crack that valve and let the air out that thing would never prime? But when you did it would prime instantly... I guess it let just enough air out for the pump to prime...

Reason I got one was the inspection cover gasket would leak from the air pushing out when I launched it and wouldn't seal after launch no matter how tight I put it.
So I made a gasket for it and after to times out the gasket blew out leaking water all over the bilge.
I got a thicker o ring for the inspection cover and the prime a jet which Im hoping will let the air bleed out of it instead of finding it's way out of the gasket.

The o-ring on the hand hole cover should be pretty reliable. You need to look into why the hand hole is leaking. There may be a crack in the cover or the suction.

My thoughts too w/ the hand hole cover but it's leaking rite where the 2 pieces meet,
Cra ks?, Outta the question, was my first thought.
I found a o-ring off my boys inflatable pool pump that sets in the groove good with no play and now it's down to a weep.
Had to find out the hard way but installed the prime - a -jet on the provision I had on the intake housing and had to remove it .
Constantly leeks . Thanks for all the help .
I'll be drilling and tapping threads for the prime a jet on the bowl once back home.
