Title: Procedure to change the main bearing in a 12JE
Post by: electrowoman on May 29, 2009, 03:16:20 AM
The front bearing is growling in boat #2 and I don't want to wait till it locks up to change it  >:(

Does anyone know the procedure to change it out?  Do we have to pull the shaft or can it be changed out from the inside?

What parts are necessary?

1978 Berkeley 12JE

Electro unfortunately the "e" is not designed to be removed from the hull (at least easily) So we "flat rate" them by disconnecting the engine (minimul diassembly) and support the motor ,then after the bowl, impeller and packings are out simply pull the shaft out the front Call Josh or myself if questions Tom 805 466 4719
