What all is involved in having pump work done or having a performance build? I currently have a Berkeley pump/ intake with a loader and a dominator split bowl with stuffer. Just trying to figure out where to spend the money, on the pump or on the motor? I have a 18 foot eliminator bubble deck and a ride plate, just finished building a 468 bbc that makes a little over 500hp, boat runs great, but just looking for your guys thoughts, looking to make the boat faster, ps it has an "a" impeller aluminum

I think I would go see Chris and Joe at B1 Racing. I would change out the A impeller to a B or so and see what they could do with the loader and set up. It's hard to guess with the little info we have.

How tight is the pump?
a loose pump will give up some mph.
What did it GPS at? where do you want to be?
How much tuning on the pump combo have you done?
have a diverter?

I'd go with the recommended B1. I was told by a friend to take it there before I even heard about Chris on here. After having been to the shop and speaking with Chris personally I know that I made the right decision by taking mine there.

The impeller is on the loose side, it has been in there for about 4 years, the last time I gps it, it was at 60 mph on stock 454, haven't gps it since I installed the new motor. I was told that I need to have pump work done to match the motors hp! Not sure what is all involved? I would like to see if I could do the work my self if possible. Looking to do around 80mph

I had a heavy azz Glencoe, 454, +.030' over, 9.5:1, victor jr & 750 Holley, and headers... ran 71.8- Jacuzzi DubJ, with a detailed 'B' stainless impeller, with diverter.
No shoe, ride plate, or loader, just a stock rock grate. I think there was more in it, if I took the time to tune the combo...
I would like to see if I could do the work my self if possible.

Totally doable
Its not rocket science, just jet surgery.
Build the pump and then make small changes dialing it in.

Thanks, what's the difference between a and b impellers? If I switch to an a/b or b impeller would I see a difference in mph, or should I stick with the a impeller and just add more hp

A to B will be roughly 300 rpm (higher for the B), where does your motor make its HP at?
I'd give up 300 rpm to have a better holeshot (A)
If you are at 5200 with an A, you'd be at ~5500 w/ B.
I'm at 5k with a AA
MPH? I don't know.
BTW, a WJ Jacuzzi B is similar to a Berk A.
