Today i started to remove the steering cable and im running in to a few problems. How do i get the cable out of the tube that runs through the transom? does the untire tube have to come out in order to get the cable out? and does the new cable come with that tube? i will try and get some pictures if i cant figure it out. any pictures would be great thanks

The tube is like a piece of allthread. I believe you loosen the nut on the inside and just pull the cable through.

Pretty much . The tube has 2 nuts . 1 on the inside and the other is on the outside . Adjusting those in or out on the tube , adjust where or how centered your steering wheel is gonna be . The steering cable feeds through the tube and threads onto the end of the tube , thats it .

Ok im having a big problem :banghead: :banghead: :mad: :mad:. I have loosend the two nuts that hold on the piece of all thread that runs through the transom. i have also tried to un-screw the hard piece of the cable that comes out the rear of the boat, and i have had no luck removing the cable. There is a total of 3 nuts on that piece of all tread. there is one on the outside of the transom and one on the inside of the transom. the last nut is on the all thread closest to the front of the boat, and im not sure if that one moves because i cant make it move. the nut that is on the outside of the transom will not unscrew all the way, it stops at the treads. GOD DA@$IT Im having a difficult time and any help would be great. thanks

Remove the nut on the tube that is closest to the bow. That's the one that holds the cable in the tube and the tube is just a pass through. Also makes the water tight connection.

Very Bitchen picture thank you. Well the reason that the piece of all thread wouldnt come out is because that "release nut" was completely rusted, and was tight as a bull frogs ass. Well long story short i put some W-D 40 on it and put some muscle on it and i broke the peice of all thread and busted up the rubber seal that is in the jet. Good news is the cable is out 8) :D. thanks for all the help SCJB

Just called them and they are sending me the goods as we type ;D. great bunch of guys over there. i wish i was closer to them so i could just go there when ever i need something.

thanks alot everyone that commented, i got the new cable in and steering tube, and everything runs smooth. JBP hooked me up good, and i will stand by there service and knowledge. They sent me the right stuff the first time and they worked with my "rookie" definitions of what was needed. Im going to lake san antonio in the middle of june and im going to stop by and say thanks, and i know that im new on this awesome site but i will recommend everyone and anyone to JetBoatPerformance.com for there needs.
