Berkeley Insert Pump (e-pump), does Dominator make one too

I have been hunting for a big deeper V jet boat. I am on the east coast. Not a lot of pickings out here. Anyway, the last boat I got was a total rot bucket. It was a stern drive Baja that I was going to convert to a Jet. The foam under the floor was like a sno-cone. I had to abandon it and junk it, cause it was so bad. I lost my ass on that boat. At least 5k into it. So I came across another Baja with a Dominator Jet here on the east coast. It shows a dominator pump. I have seen a lot of deeper V’s with a Berk. E-pump which is an insert pump. I am not a fan of those. This current Baja I am looking at show a dominator pump but I cannot tell cause the pics are not close enough to see if in fact it is an insert style pump. Bottom line question is, did Dominator make an insert style pump like Berkeley e-pump.

I was affraid of that answer. Not a fan of those. Wonder if a real intake set back could work in the future on this boat. I have an semi v Berk intake as well as a complete housing, AQ shaft, etc sitting in my basement.

Still waiting for the seller to send more pics. It is a 2.5 hour ride for me. My question still holds true to you guys (GT Jets?), if I can put a real intake in this boat and do a setback without a huge driveshaft angle. I also have a rail kit as well.

I've seen some work that Tom @ JBP has done on a panther to Berk conversion, and it looked pretty straight forward.

With that insert Dom in there, would a Berk set-back gain any advantage in a cruiser? I would imagine the Dom set-up would hold 500 hp, maybe more. Tom or Glenn would know.

I ran a Rogers Bonneville-style hull with an E pump for years and it ran low 70's with mild BBF power so they can work. Point being, you're looking at a cruiser and unless you throw BIG power at a deep V, it just doesn't matter. Not sure what you think a setback will buy you, you're still pushing a ton of water, and (again) you need big power to get that boat on it's tail where the setback works for you. Take a step back and re-consider your expectations. If it's building a race boat, this isn't the hull style you should start with. If it's a cruiser, save a ton of money and don't try to make it something it won't be.

Deeper vee hulls can be done, but at the expense of driveline angle, I would be more apt to go with an E or an F design.

Thanks for all the replies. The owner did send more pics. This is nice but it just does not do it for my like a 21 Ultra or similar does it for me. I think I am going to continue looking. I have a buddy who lives out in Arizona and he said he would tow a boat back to CT. for me but this would only happen once a year. So the hunt will continue. As you can see from my Nordic posts I cannot leave well enough alone. I want my full size 21 Ft. family boat to go at least 70. I think it will be easier to attain where I can put a loader, shoe, inducer, shoe and ride plate on a non insert pump.
