Title: Running pump out of water..
Post by: Deadend on May 01, 2012, 12:04:54 AM: Why is it bad on a pump to run it out of water? I've done in the past and get grief for it!!! Ive never done it for very long as my motor runs on gas not alcohol!! But I've never had any problems....

Post by: Rogers Hopeful on May 01, 2012, 01:00:32 AM: I think its bc the jet has thrust bearings that can go bad if there isnt pressure on them. I am not sure so i am sure someone else will chime in

Post by: Your Mom on May 01, 2012, 07:05:26 AM: I fire mine up now and then for small adjustments and run water through it. I dont let it run long and its been fine for years of doing this.

Post by: raginaquaholic on May 01, 2012, 08:06:01 AM: I used to run a water hose through the pump for engine adjustiments. Now I always fire up in water after spending the cash to have pump re-built. My pump builder recommended it. Maybe so I don't blame him for jack'in my pump up? :screwy:
