12JJ Pump? Ever heard of one?
« on: October 31, 2009, 02:38:49 PM »
Ok Im sure that the tag on the pump got stamped wrong or something , but I was looking around and saw that it said 12JJ on it WTF? I have never seen or heard of one, have you guys. I always figured it was a E or F pump. The boat is a 1974 . I have a shitty pic if I can figure out how to post on here.

Suspect this is a mis-stamp or re-stamp assuming it is an "insert" type jet the odds are its a 12j "E" or "F", "Fs" had OE trim "E" had standard steering  Email me a picture if you can and I'll post it for you Tom

Is there any possibility that it's a JI pump? Berk introduced the JI pumps as replacement pieces a few years ago, cheaper to buy an all new pump than to try and ressurect a dead one

Supose it could be a JJ pump, maybe a variation of another model Berkeley offered, we had a JH pump that was installed in an old '68 Schiada we aquired.  The JH was identical to a JA exept it came factory(best i could tell) double drilled on both sides of the bowl had a stainless impeller and also had a jetovator installed.

Hey Dad, don't forget the original JI pumpthat was in the Syndicate, not the current JI that skip mentioned.  I suspect it was a very short production run.  An adaptation of the jet o vator nozzle used on F Pumps.

Most of the pieces are the same as an F trim but the reverse bucket is totally different and the gimbal has a tiller arm added on the upper left had corner.

I agree, It may have been a factory replacement pump for the E or perhaps the suction was purchaced separatley.  Berkeley didn't have a rectangular shaped tag like that till mid-late 80's I believe, I think they were teemed up with Harman at that point.

I know that my old Taylor was a 1984 and it didnt have a rectangle tag it was a oval shape. So Im going to asume that it is a E pump.

Ive got a 12JJ pump too.   Its on my 93 Commander.  No droop snoot available.  The only advantage is that the bowl can be removed from outside the boat and dont have to pull the engine.
