Tempature Reading?
« on: June 24, 2007, 07:58:37 PM »
I have a 19ft. charger with a 460 and a berkeley jet while running on the river my temp is 160 to 180 . On lake mead which is where i go all of the time the water is 80 to 85 deg. My boat is running 210-220 if i am not in the middle of the lake. Is there anything i can do to keep it running a little cooler. Or am i worrying about something that i shouldnt ? Thanks. ???

I dont think that 210 or 220 is all that high.

Is your water valve open all the way?
Is there a blockage?
Are you using a Thermostat? If so, what temp does it open at?

not sure on the thermostat. valve is open all of the way. My next step is to check all lines for blockage but on the river it runs 50 deg. Cooler i know water temp makes a diference. so say 65-70 deg. water or 80 deg waterat the lake.

Vegas charger assuming your temp guage is correct that reading is rather unusual since most jets "struggle' to get off  the cold peg on the guage and routinely run 100 to 130 Even with a by pass T stat kit  they usually have a hard time maintining 150 160 .I think your on the right track looking for restrictions etc also there should NOT be a T stat in this boat Unless it has a 4 outlet T stat set up with bypass Call me I'll be happy to help you diagnose and toubleshoot this
