I sucked a ski rope into the pump putting my boat on the trailer yesterday. So is there a big problem if I was unable to get all the rope out? It is cut all the way thru on one side but the top/engine side of the shaft still has about 5 "wraps" still stuck in it. It will turn over easily again... but I was wondering if running it will hurt anything. I thought that it might melt the remaining rope a little if it was running, I noticed that some of the rope melted before it stopped the motor from cranking. Or is there another way to get it out?

Ya gotta get it out man, open the top if you can get to it.

My hand is pretty scraped up from squeezing in from the top and from underneath thru the loader grate. I'll try and get a pic of what's left tomorrow, but baring some small vise grips that will fit into the hand hole in the top, I dont know how to get more out.

take off your loader...it will make it easier to get to.
and yes, get it all out or else it will cause problems down the road.

Nothing like having a rope sucked into a mixed flow pump... Sea weed was hard enough to get out, I would hate to get a rope in there...

Brads right "all"of it Unfortunatley whats on the intake/suction side may very well be only part of it (wrapped around the shaft etc) I recommend you plan on takeing the bowl off Tom

I'm going to try to pull the loader off and see if the extra room will help me get the rest out. When I put the loader back on should I put red thread locker on it to keep the bolts in? It also "appears" to have some kind of epoxy seeping out from underneath it on the stern end of the plate it bolts to... I just dont want to pull it off and and then lose it because I didnt put it back on right.

We don't use lock tite (you'll hate it next time you remove it) we do however use clear silicone on the "mating surfaces" and on the bolt threads .We also like counter sunk stainless allen heads and really like to see you folks "overdrill" tap to 5/16 and also "thru bolt' with any type of non stock /loader type intake Thanks Tom

I was able to get it out without removing the loader grate. I clamped onto the small pieces with vise grips then used a pry bar on the vise grips to slowly get it all out ;D
