Lol just give up and sand it smooth and spray some appliance paint on it.

I used a wire wheel (cup type) on a 4" angle grinder, it will go into and gouge the aluminum, just a steady hand and light pressure should do it. Then sand, sand, and more sanding. I did this to a bowl, reverse bucket and place diverter bracket.

Good luck

I think the green coating is a primer.
If I remember right (from past threads), you want to try and leave it on.

I could be wrong. ::)
Does this sound familiar to anybody else?

Edit: I just reread you plan to polish it.
Nevermind

That green shit is Zinc Chromate, don't breathe the dust if you sand it...

About the only way I have ever been able to get it off without too much labor is with a glass beader.  ;)

So the stripping pads worked great! It took me about 2 hours with smoke breaks and a six pack ! The second pad is a really light foam pad that removed almost all of the scratches from the ez strip pad , the pictures are after 2 coats of metal polish and 25 min of medium polish with a drill and buffing wheel

Now i just need to get the paint off of the 4 lil spots closest to the nozzle ! Wich doesnt look like fun but better than doing the whole thing by hand

That looks good! Polishing anything that never was polished before flat sucks. I did a few of these a while back for my work truck, never again...

I've read where some guys have put clear powder coat on their polished pump to help keep it shiny.
