How do you measure the width. From the inside or the outside of the u joint?

My 455 Berkeley uses two Rockwell 35n U-Joints. 1.25" bearing caps and 3.219 width (end of bearing cap to end of bearing cap). A Moog 964 (center grease fitting) or 934 (bearing cap grease fitting) is the same joint. Just replaced mine last night.
