Title: Swap A/T to Berkeley jet?
Post by: BCouey on February 17, 2016, 02:35:57 PM
This is for a friend, can you easily swap from American Turbine to a Berkeley jet? I believe the suctions have the same bolt pattern correct? Is there anything else to keep in mind? Thanks for any info guys

I didn't ask if it was a good swap.

I'm asking for a friend. Has a destroyed AT pump and access to a berk cheap. It's not a go fast boat. Will it work is my question?

This is like the guy who asks what it takes to make an olds run and gets a million swap to bbcs as a reply. I was just looking for some info not to be ridiculed for asking. Maybe I should of clarified why he is considering the swap, but still. Helpful answers only please

I understand.

It's dependent to which AT.

Do you know what model?

I wasn't being a dick. I was just stating that this is an odd swap.

Yeah but why respond at all if there's no real intention to be of help? Lol. Anyway enough about that I'm not here to make enemies. It's all good

I don't know what model, is it like a Berkeley with a tag that has that info? I can find out. I honestly know nothing about the AT pump, just trying to help the guy out that's all.

The AT bowl/suction might be a larger diameter than the Berkeley, necessitating a transom cover swap

Gotcha. I'm sure I have a few Berkeley ones laying around. But it bolts to the intake right? Do you think the driveshaft would still work? As in the position and the splines both?

I can actually answer that.

From the sound of it, I immediately thought someone was thinking there are performance gains going from an American Turbine to a Berkeley.

Yes, there is a model tag similar to a Berkeley.

The earlier the AT the better as far as a swap goes.
