Title: To wedge or not to wedge?

Post by: GT Jets on June 30, 2008, 08:08:12 PM: The performance reason for running any kind of wedge is for increased bowlift, but a lot of guys like to get an increased roost, sometimes boats respond very well to a little more downward thrust on the transom (or upward trim), this allows the boat to get more out of the water, theoretically make it go faster. (major trial and error thing)

Most will wedge up , in theory that brings the bow up and therefore there is less wetted surface therefore giving you more MPH . In my case , I need to wedge down to bring the bow down , giving the boat the ability to run through the chop . GT pretty much covered it from end to end . Lottsa trail and error butter cup . ;)

Post by: Sleeper CP 19 on June 30, 2008, 09:07:11 PM: For boat's like mine ( California Performance) the reason to use the wedge is to lower the trust line of the water exiting the pump. The lower the thrust line the more you can lift the boat out of the water therefore having less wetted area.

Did you set your wedge in the up position or down position ?

I set it with the thinnest part up, so I'm guessing up?

We do the same thing.... the worse the water the more down wedge
