Title: Trying to remove impeller, need puller
Post by: bajaleo on January 25, 2014, 10:54:33 AM
Does anyone know if O'Reilly rents a puller that will remove the impeller from a Berk? I got the nut off easily enough. Or does anyone live around the corner from me who has one? wink wink?

Just get the cheep 3 prong one ...think its like 10 bucks ... but you have to modify it with a grinder so the teeth will fit the grooves on the impeller... at least thats what I did...

I know that the factory puller is big $$$$, but my impeller was on so tight that a three jaw would have ripped the grove off of the impeller.   The factory puller pulls all 360 degrees of the impeller ... and it was still a hard pull.

I think my key tried to ride up on the keyway ramp and made it even harder.

Good Luck !!

So after thinking about it for a bit, I decided to try applying heat to see if that would help. It came off pretty easily with a few taps of my mallet.

Thanks for the responses guys.
