Title: water hose hook up

I would like to run my boat so I can trouble shoot some probelms but I want to make sure Iam not going to cause any more problems to my boat,  in the picture below  is that the correct spot to hook up the hose and if so whats the process of starting the engine. My next question is do I need to run another hose to the pump and whats the process. One more question, how long will I be able to run my engine when Iam doing this whole process. you pic isnt working.  if you're gonna run your boat out of the water you REALLY need to disconnect your driveline going to your pump.  a pump spinning out of water can damage the ring, some people will argue... but in the end its REALLY not worth it.  4 bolts, save yourself some headache.

all you need to do is pull the hose off the pump and stick one of these on it...  home depot garden section... like $2. hook your hose up but do not turn it on full blast...

with the driveline disconnected and the motor getting water u can run it for however long you need... when you're done, slap the driveline back on, tq the bolts properly, and put your water hose back on the pump and tighten it up as well.  doneski's.

wanted to add what kaotyk said....start the motor before you turn on your water hose.

Don't bother.  The issue is that the impeller isn't loaded so neither is the thrust bearing.  Unloaded, the thrust bearing allows quite a bit of radial slop.  Disconnect the driveline or take a trip to a local lake.
