I noticed water leaking from the bottom of the bowl yesterday, seeping between caulk. Is this a big problem? (https://www.socaljetboats.com/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimg405.imageshack.us%2Fimg405%2F6513%2Fnewstufffn1.jpg&hash=71167504f1b19ea1ce303e0646828def456b5420) (http://imageshack.us)

I confirmed it is coming in from inside the boat. Can I stop this by putting a fresh bead of silicone around the bowl, or does the entire thing have to be removed to stop the leak?

Anyone? I need to have it done by Sunday morning... :-[

Anyone, that would be me. ;D
Does your bildge pump work? Try to figure out exactly where the water is coiming in at, dig out the existing silicone there a little bit, dump some fresh silicone on it, wait 24 to put it in the water, and make sure the bildge pump works. My .02.

one thing i do on new (old) boats is put the plug in and fill 'em w/ water, you can see where they're leaking. What i did was dig out ALL the seven layers of silicone, blow it out w/ air wash it and wash it again then use carb cleaner and blow it out again and use the CORRECT silicone adhesive to make a nice clean bead and remove all the excess. After that i found i didnt eveen need a pump....all day

Is this standard issue with Berkley jets? ;D

Yes it is. The high output models use a lighter weight reverse thrust offset BALL bearing that looks exactly the same however it is yellow instead of white. ;)

This is something that has baffled me for a long time . Between the bowl and the suction piece there is a huge o-ring that sits in the groove so that when you slide your transome cover over the bowl there is a seal . I had tons upon tons of people tell to just throw it away and run a bead of silicon ??? Why does berkley sell it then . I have a friend who told me that the pump on a jet is always the ugliest part of the boat and it usualy has to due with gobs and gobs of silicone no matter how hard you try or how careful you are with it , not to mention you cant paint over it and it turns yellow or some other disgusting color . ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???

Well I opted to remove the golf ball. It took quite a beating to get it out. I cleaned off the old silicone about 3 inches back from where it appeared to still be holding well. Sprayed the heck out of the groove and outside with carb cleaner and forced silicone back into the groove ( it took quit a bit) I guess I'll find out tomorrow if it's going to work. I am feeling good about though so maybe I'll get lucky for once.
