Ok my u-joints were a little stiff, I greesed them till they felt ok. greesed bearing @ front of pump. Is it ok to use merc hiperf gear lube? how far off can alighnment be? It's kinda noisy back!

I'm thinkin' your thrust bearing is about to go. They typically make a loud/unpleasant noise when they start to fail. Don't run it till you get that replaced or you will end up with some major damage.
