Title: What's your opinion?
Post by: Boats N Hoes on October 19, 2010, 08:32:22 PM
Okay so i have a Hondo jet boat with a WJ Jacuzzi jet on it, the jacuzzi pump doesn't have a place diverter on it and thats the next thing i want to change on my boat. But a buddy of mine suggested to just put a berkley jet on it because i would go faster and hae more power ;D. That opened another door because i probably can put a berk pump with the place diverter for about the same price.? Because its hard to find used place diverters for a jacuzzi... So what do you think? Should i look for a used berk pump with the place diverter or..... just buy a place diverter for my Wj jacuzzi?  ???

It all depends on what you want from your boat.  If it is a healthy lake/river boat, stay with the Jacuzzi.  If you are looking to race with the guys at the Power Tour you might want to replace it with a Berk/Dominator set up.

The WJ is a good pump, but like all jets it needs to be checked/serviced every so oftin.

Thanks for the advice i will probably just keep my Jacuzzi pump then. :)
Do you have any suggestions on where i should look for a place diverter for the WJ jacuzzi?

Finding used Place diverters for the WJ is a little difficult.  I would probably be worth the money to buy a new one.  Place changed the design and the newer version is much better from what I hear.  I have an old style Place on my WJ and have seen where the newer one would be better.

As for finding a new one check with Tom at Jet Boat Performance or Jim at Cyclone Speed & Marine, I'm sure either one would give you the SCJB good guy discount  ;)

FWIW admittedly its "gutted" , 6 gal tank ,No interior and the jet has had work)  , 6 gal tank) But my Miller 18' runs  80 (78.9) with a 434 cu BBC stroker and a Jacuzzi WJ Its not just the jet or the power or the Hull its about the entire set up  Tom

No further wisdom can be found IMHO

But FWIW, with a properly set up Berkeley/Berkeley clone, you would probably be mid-upper 80's  :sly:
