Title: what are the advantage of ride plate and no ride plate?
Post by: futch on March 22, 2007, 04:32:26 PM: what is the difference in a ride plate and no ride plate? I want to convert my dominator from one boat to another but one has a ride plate and the other doesn't?

With each boat and pump set-up you want to creat as much adjustability as possible to make your day at the lake or river more enjoyable.
The intake in most cases has been machined to accept a shoe and ride plate.

Call if you need a better clarification.

Post by: hotrod56cars on March 22, 2007, 06:56:33 PM: A ride plate is a flat aluminum plate below the pump and extending behind the hull/transom. I think Beerjet's pics has a good shot of one. A ride plate is just that, a plate that the boat rides on. A shoe is directly in front of the ride plate to help force the water into the pump. With a shoe and a ride plate there's less boat in the water making it faster.

Post by: futch on March 22, 2007, 08:45:42 PM: the pump I am removing from my pickle has a custom grate and the pump has been polished inside with a b/c ss impeller had a bronze but it exploded so the new hull I got has no ride plate where my other had one. so I was trying to decide what the pros and cons are to having the ride plate?

Post by: CHROMEY on June 25, 2007, 11:28:51 AM: i got a ride plate on mine and its adjustable ;D, total stroke is about 1/2 inch, seems to work on my boat, i gotta check out that reverse thing, didnt think i had a problem....
