what should i build up first my jetdrive or my engine?my engine is a BBF 460 and my jet is a 12jc. thanks in advance ;D
-
That all depends on what shape the motor or pump is in. It doesent matter how much motor you have if you dont have the pump to back it up though. Matt

does it run now? that is the only way to know for sure.
and if not i would do the motor first because its the most money and labor intisive (sp?)
-
Yes its running just fine from what I know about engines its the jet that concerns me becouse I dont know much about them.when i first bought the boat I didnt try to launch it out of the hole but when I would cruse it and then floor it it pulled hella strong (been out 3 times)since then I went out about a month ago and i thought ??? I wounder how hard this thing shoots out of the hole so I stoped and floored it and it didnt pull real hard til I got on plane.kinda feels like it has alittle cavitation
-
does it have a loader? what are your goals for the boat (intended use)
-
I want to do at least 80 is that to much to ask 4
-
I think its all stock but Im not to familiar with the parts think you can send some pics to help me out

ok now you have entered the twilight zone :o and will need a good size wallet.
so lets start here, what kind of hull do you have, because you may spend more trying to get your hull to 80 than its worth
-
went and looked at your other thread, is it the saber with the deeeeeeep entry?
-
Its a semi v ::)
-
dont mind the money part cuz ive hade kidney stones b 4 and dont really like it
-
ok I'll make this easy, your motor wont push that boat to 80mph neither will the pump. Just for the record, i would not want to be in your boat at 80mph and have it lose power because bad things will happen.
jmho
build about 650 hp and have the pump gone through by some body who knows what they are doing

Ha  ;D

Well I was going to go ahead and rebuild the pump myself but wht else can I do to get better excel without sacrifice to the top end

If the engine build is "cheap and easy" you really should look into getting a hull that is better suited to going fast if you really want to exceed 65-75mph. The chance of something going wrong at those speeds are bad enough but get even worse when going faster.
I enjoy watching a well built boat run hard, but I don't want somebody get hurt or killed because of poor choices.
What you have looks like a very cool lake/river boat. Build it to run mid 60's and have fun with it.
If you want a race boat there are much better designs out there.

dam girls get all the percs :banghead:

Can you please give us some details on this engine?
I can't build a reliable 600 hp engine cheap...but I'd sure like 1000hp.
-
I can build a 1000HP super cheap too, the problem is it will only make 1000HP for about ten seconds, then.......You get to play 200 part pick up and start all over again.... :banghead: :banghead:
We had an 800HP Naturally aspirated Big Chevy that cost in excess of $9000 to build and it was all assembled by us, not a store bought high dollar deal, so if you can do it cheap, how cheap we talkin'? I do know that at least half of the parts and components we used were second hand rejects from Ebay and other racers....BTW FWIW, my dad owned and operated the machine shop that built it.
