pump swap question?
« on: August 10, 2009, 05:53:07 PM »
I have a 79 miller with a BBC and a berk 12 jc. the boat runs hard the way it is but i would like more, so i am going to be building  a new  engine over the winter and would like some input on the pump. i have a dominator 12s  (newer) and am thinking about swapping it out or buying a split bowl conversion that tom sells for the jc. i already have a place diverter and am going to be installing a shoe and ride plate regardless. what do you professionals think?

Probably the biggest advantage to this swap is that the 12s is "strength" The Domy likley has a 17-4 shaft and the suction is "beefier" and stronger Tom

Not a professional, but are you planning to add wedges or a droop? Serious Roost? Otherwise I'd leave the JC alone, 'cept maybe upgrade the impeller if more is needed.

What numbers are you running now and what do you want to improve?

it will run high 60's now. i will be installing a droop and playing with wedges to see what works best.  i also plan on straighting out the bottom while everything is out of the boat. i would like to get everything i can out of this hull.
