Title: Who has experience with Nozzle Wedges?
Post by: 74RogersBubbledeck on August 13, 2012, 08:23:17 AM
This is the set up I'm going to run this year.

Agressor 9 vane bowl, AA Impeller, Place Diverter HP Steering Nozzle & new style Place Diverter.

Ran 88mph with stock steering nozzle, 86mph with Place Diverter full Droop, 85mph with Place Diverter HP Steering Nozzle. Same stretch of river with weight very close in boat. I know that 3mph could be anything. The stock steering nozzle feels quicker and the main difference is it narrows much quicker than the droop & HP nozzle.

My thought is a nozzle wedge. I don't want to put to much pressure in the bowl, I'm sure I can shrink it safely a little. My neighbor at the river who has a blown alcohol hydro mentioned the old Agressor bowls blew holes in the upper middle area. Hope I didn't get one of those  :o

Any thoughts form those who have experimented with these would be appreciated?[attachimg=1]

I bought a 1* and 2-2* wedges so I could adjust in 1* increments.
that's just me though....

I took my wedge out and added a ride plate(boat had a previous porpoise problem @ 35-50), still have the wedge for future tuning.

I realized I didn't explain what I'm thinking very well. I'm not talking about the wedge you install between the bowl and steering nozzle.

I want to shrink the size of the water outlet.

What's it called? You install it inside your nozzle.  :banghead:

Nozzle inserts for a FTN fine tune nozzle.

the berk site seems to say that the hole size is fine and that the inserts are for "larger boats."  ive always wondered their purpose.  i understand that it creates more force but does that translate into more low end rather than top end speed?

One thing all this jaw jacking doesn't do, is produce results.
Do your homework, and try it out.
one thing that IS a given is that no matter whos boat has what hardware, no 2 boats will react exactly the same.
