I'm looking for advice from anyone who familiar with hardware setup on delta vee hulls. The boat is an eliminator bubble deck 18'. As you may know this hull doesn't have a huge delta but I've read that loader and shoe setup is a little trickier than on a rounded keel hull. The pump is an early dominator suction piece with a new bowl, droop, PD, Hardin ss loader, and inducer. The intake is machined but it has a one piece shoe/ride plate. This summer was my first time running the boat so I have no comparison data from before this setup. It runs 65mph at 4900rpm with a tunnel ram olds. I expected a little more top end so I was looking to tweek the jet hardware. I have not yet cut the loader. I'm wondering if I'm overloading the pump with the biting edges of the loader and or the rideplate/shoe. The rideplate is 1/4in and is flush against the keel behind the inlet. How do i measure for loader depth on a delta keel? Any insight is appreciated.

Just taking a stab at this while in lunch break. It sounds like the pump is thirsty for more intake pressure.

The best tools you have are a properly functioning tachometer and a 6' straight edge.

I just bought a new one after 30 years and it is aluminum from the Home Depot and is cost $14.

The rear of the intake should realistically be at or slightly below the keel line, the loader should be above the keel line approximately 1/4" shallower than the rear of the intake.

Where is the plate set at?  (How many degrees "up" from the keel line?).

How wet does the hull ride?

What does the boat weigh?  Where is the weight (COG)?

All these things come into play.

65mph is about normal for a hull like yours,  not knowing what kind of power your making makes it difficult to say for sure, but 70mph souks not be an unreasonable goal IMHO.

After that it is based on wallet health and less on set up. Lol.

When you guys say keel line are you talking about the flat of the delta or the keel in front of it? Because if you mean the pointed keel up front that's very difficult to measure. I'll crawl under there by I think the actuall v part of the keel starts to curve up toward the bow in front of the delta. So how can I position the straight edge? If you are referring to the delta itself then both the rear of the intake AND the loader leading edge are below that level.

Google delta pad bahner.  I was looking it up. There are a lot of performance boat forums that discuss this. There is also a dude in upland d1performance that had a delta pad bahner bubble deck . He did a set back on his and it turned out well. Said he got it to hit 94 I think

Ok. I've read all that I can find on the google but cant find many real world examples of what people actually ended up with as far as biting edge depth and so on. I did take some measurements on mine. Both the loader and rear biting edges are about 1/2 inch below the level of the delta surface. If that seems to low I can easily trim the loader but I wouldn't know how to deal with the shoe because it is the rideplate which has simply been bolted onto the bottom of the hull. In other words, they didn't recess it into the hull behind the intake opening. I suppose it could be machined with a back cut but I don't know if that's kosher.. Any thoughts? I can get pics if anyone needs a better view.
