Ok, I have a 74 Kona Im rebuilding that came with a WJ, in pieces I might add and looks as if some parts are missing but not surejust what yet, just havn't had the time to see what is missing. So long story short I have a complete YJ in good condition and was concidering for now to install th YJ until I could afford to rebuild the WJ. My question is would it be a easy swap out or would I have to do some glass work on the bottom around the intake ???
BTW I am putting in a SBC that has been beefed up.

i say stay with the wj that way you can put on a place diverter later, you cant with a yj. here is a link that might help you decide.

The YJ intake is much larger than the WJ, requiring major glass work to go back to the WJ at a later date.
The WJ is a superior pump compaired to the YJ. The YJ is ok if you are running a barge with no plan on trying to go fast. :thumbdown:

I have to agree. Back when I bought my Charger, the only one........at that time....... with a Jacuzzi pump.......and was a VERY involved Technical discussion over the phone, and a few beers, with Tom at JBP before I pulled the trigger and bought it. (We were BOTH drinking, Don't think that Tom had all the fun in this! ;) )
As I remember the conversation, the huge difference was the YJ was an "axial flow" pump. Whereas the WJ was more like the Berk in being, well, as I interpreted it at the time, "radial flow".
Tom will come along and correct me if I'm off base here, but the difference here is in pressure differential capability between the the inlet side and output of the pump nozzle.
FWIW, stay with your WJ! Much better pump....... :thumbup:

Always looking for cores (all jets) and Ray is close the YJs and Panthers move volumes of water (Axial flow) the Berk type jets are "Mixed flow" and create pressure , similar but different designs
The WJ is a mixed flow jet .. RE drinking beer and Bsing Its always a hoot to talk to ya Ray !
BTW along with the new products we have been concocting (Motor mounts etc , we also now have the Cad work done for a YJ adaptor to make a Berk swap "Cake" ! :thumbup:
