Post by: JayneVM on November 12, 2015, 11:19:40 AM
So I'm looking at buying a 1979 Hornet 19' with a 454/460 BBC, Berkeley Jet, anyone got any suggestions comments or concerns, things I need to look for or be aware of? Even any info on this type of boat would be appreciated, Thanks!

Welcome to SCJB  ;D

The Hornet is a good hull.
Are you looking at one currently or just searching?
As with any used boat you need to inspect the stringers, transom wood and floors for water damage or rot.  Inspect upholstery wood for condition (if important to you).  If it's a runner ask for a lake test.  Depending on claims about engine, remove valve covers and intake for inspection.

Good luck with your search.

I have owned mine for 17 years and it has been a great boat. They do turn sharp so don't treat it like a sea-do, you will spill your drink or loose your crew.
