Taking my Mini day to Havasu next weekend. I have been out there numerous times but never in a jet boat . As I remember It gets pretty windy out there in the afternoons. Will I have any forseeable problems out there if the wind picks up . suppose to be 10-14 mi max. We usually are parker rats and dont have to deal with the winds too bad . Thanks

I've done havi many a times. just be carefull. I was supposed to be out at havi next weekend as well but getting one last glamis trip in instead.

lol I will be at glamis the following weekend ......

I go out every weekend with my jet and have no problems. Now i dont go out on the big weekends (4th,memorial,labor day and some of the other holidays) because theres to many idiots and all the big boats do make it pretty rough. Otherwise there is no problem with a small boat on Havasu. Matt

I have an 18' Challenger and my buddies and I are going to Parker. They want to hit up Lake Havasu but Im nervous about that. Last season I took it out to Mohave for my first ever time out on the boat and I had to ride my buddies boats ass to have nice water. We are going out in a couple weeks so it shouldnt be over-crowded but Im sure it'll still be rough.
What would be considered too windy there? How has your guys' experience out there been?
Matt

If you can see the white caps leave it on the trailer. and tow up to park moabi and run the river!

Use your smarts when jetting in Havasu. The south end typically has better water if your concerned (launch at Cattail or Springs). Backside of the island is protected as well (Site 6). Or be a channel rat - the popular thing is to launch in the marina and head there ( :screwy: )

Jetboats and Havasu go together like Beans and ice cream...

i just got a jet boat and by reading all of your comments it sounds like havi is not a place for a jet boat. I mean if you are careful can you still have a good time in a jet boat at havi?

i took my 18 foot kona there last summer, and I had a blast, sure every once in a while a large boat would come by and id have to steer into the wake, but I did fine, cruised around the lake all day at no less than 45-50 mph. but then again my boats a heavy layup and she takes a beating lol.

Every body of water can be dangerous and/or fun in a jet boat. Make sure your bilge pumps work well and that you pay attention to what the conditions are 360' all around you. If you are underway is isn't near the problem that it can be if you are stopped. There are some big boats on Havi that can create some big waves. Launch at Cattail and stay in one of the coves mid day if things get hairy. Mid-summer weekends will see Havi fill with idiots in all kinds of craft, not the best place for a noobie but not a reason to stay home either. Boat ramps will be very crowded from mid afternoon on, plan ahead if you don't want to be there after dark.
And my best advice is if you are driving the boat DO NOT DRINK ANY ALCOHOL. Small price to pay for staying safe and out of jail.
Another piece of advice would be come down to Blythe this month or BR next month and see what real jet boating is all about. ;D

Everything up to and possibly including arrest. ;D I imagine Albertsons has been put on high alert and will be ordering extra beer and Capt.M. Ray has promised NOT to burn a boat. The Vegas boys promised to stay in the closet. And Brad is expected NOT to bring any stickers.
Does that about cover it guys?
