who steals a bunk
« on: May 28, 2013, 02:16:57 PM »
so i was in havasu last weekend...
Saturday boat didnt start, starter stripped out thank god the flywheel was still good and thanks to the guys at all american battery co. (clay) for helping me wire a new starter and get me back on the water.
Saturday afternoon, guido tatted dudes with 35' boats ruin the lake, and coming from pirates cove to site six my driver seat comes detached from my boat and i begin to start driving with a gangsta lean.
Sunday was a good day just cruzed to the mud bar and hanging out then come back to the bridge, rough but not as bad as saturday, go to put the boat on the trailer and realize some one liked the blunks i just made for my trailer more then i did and took it off my trailer. who steals a bunk, come on seriously, no respect for other peoples hard earned property. all i can say is the beer kept me going this weekend and  now i got my summer projects cut out for me.  :banghead:

Are you sure it didn't come undone and fall off? That would be a pretty strange thing to steal......

bolts break, you put the boat in the water and are more concerned with the boat and the bunk floats off.  its happened before.  i actually saw a guys trailer at havasu springs with a bunk just sitting on his trailer like sideways.  im guessing his broke and came off as well.
I have even seen one stick to the bottom of the boat when it was launched and the driver never seen it

With the bunks just made, and it being Havazoo, I bet somebody made off with it....fawkers
Had 1 of mine float sideways @ the Avi, still need to redo them...
I thru bolt them with stainless & nylocks, lags bolts are crap for bunks.

On the old boat always had to do the duct tape bunk repair every year! California's lovely roads have a way of making bolts fall out no matter how the are installed!

I had one float off and away.  Just me and my son to float the boat.   Didn't notice until I went to retrieve the truck from the lot.  We were only on the water 20 mins. but it was dusk when we pulled out.

Not the first thread I seen about this. Some bass fisherman even have their trailers stolen while out fishing a tournament.

Back in the early 90s when i was knee deep in exotics, (sports cars)  there was a guy that had gone to san francisco, with his porsche 911. The guy was a dick and never really liked him much. But i had to really feel bad for him when he came home . Seems as if he parked it on the street cause the prick did not want to spend for valet. Well he went to go get his car. It was gone!  The police found  it the same day!   The thieves wanted the recarro seats and a few other things in it. The guy, so the seats would NOT be stolen had them welded to the pan. Well the thieves got the seats out of the car , they just cut the whole floor pan out of it. And to add insult to injury wrote on the roof with a torch FU ! So yes it does not matter what it is if someone wants it bad enough they will take it!

I could see one bunk falling off or floating away. The chances of both coming unglued at once... unlikely unless boat and trailer had been outside and not used in the last ten years.

The California goers aren't the ones to blame. It's the locals, like 82Daytona, that head up to Havasu and steal bunks to finish a boat project.

Back when I had just the two jet skis a few years ago,  someone cut the locks on the toolbox and fuel containers. They stole 10 gallons, four containers and a Walmart tie patch kit. I was staying at the islander.
