Title: HMMM family event on lake mead

Ok guys so I'm thinking that I want to put a gathering together on lake mead...I'm leaning towards march april possibly may...I don't want to contradict any other events, races.etc...I'm looking at doing this at temple bar for many reasons such as
They have a motel there
Little cottages with kitchens and rooms
Campground facility
Temple bar marina is right where the colorado river comes into lake mead
It is always pretty flat in there
Water conditions are cleanest
And we got a big ass lake to play on
Also for the people that rent motels and cottages you get your own part of a beach

Getting into temple bar is on the arizona side just accross hoover damn

Lemme know guys if I get enough interest I will goto work!

Depending on the dates, yes you can. Hell I may even have the Rayson Craft seaworthy by then too. Now I just gotta figure out how I'm gonna tow 2 boats  ???

From Phoenix:
Take I-17 north, and then I-40 west to Kingman. Take Highway 93 north out of Kingman, and then just past Milemarker 20 make a right at the Temple Bar exit. Temple Bar is located 28 miles from Highway 93 turnoff.

From Los Angeles: There are two options to choose from.

1): Take I-15 north toward Barstow/Las Vegas. Then get on the I-215 east to the I-515 south toward Downtown Las Vegas/Phoenix. I-515 then becomes Highway 93/95 south. Continue on Highway 93/95 south to Boulder City. Go past the Vons in Boulder City and turn Left to continue on Highway 93 toward the Hoover Dam (watch for the signs). Go past Hoover Dam. Between Milemarkers 19 and 20, you will see a sign saying "Temple Bar Resort, use Left lanes'. Turn left. Temple Bar is located approximately 28 miles from the turnoff.

2): Take I-15 north toward Barstow/Las Vegas. In Barstow, take the I-40 east toward Kingman. In Kingman, Get on the I-93/95 north toward Las Vegas. Just past Milemarker 20, make a right turn at the sign for Temple Bar Marina. Temple Bar is approximately 28 miles from the turnoff.

also 2sav there is a google feature to get you there...or drive to kingman head towards vegas/hoover dayum...pass milemarker 20 turn right at temple bar turnoff

i wish i had like 100 gallons in the boat because you can actually head up river and boat into the grand canyon from my understanding i remember my aunt showing me pictures of them doing it in a schooley bayliner

Willow Beach is instant Hypothermia, water NEVER gets warm there. I went to Echo Bay the other day, nice. They have a HOtel there and it's just far enough out for no crowds. Anyway, I'll be on the water so see you all out there.

sticking with temple bar never a crowd and more river status better water...in an emergency circumstance we can goto willow beach for no wind glass conditions thats all

A family event would be nice, We go to temple bar often during the summer. Maybe consider May because that water still pretty cool till the mid summer. I give you an ATTABOY for trying to put something together.

I'm aiming towards something early in the summer so there isn't a 2 hour wait on the ramp, and an empty lake march is when I start going to mead for the most part...the water can be cold but I have tubed and wakeboarded in march...maybe I'm just young n dumb though...

Not trying to empose on your guys' event on Lake Mead, but like I posted on "Lets Get It Together" I'm looking to get some people together for Fathers Day Weekend on Lake Mead at Echo Bay.

Echo Bay Marina has beaches in-cove by the marina, and is never crowded... It has a perfect launch ramp nice bar, can get deals on hotel rooms, and could possibly get house boats, for water cabins, so you can't leave the dock with them.


GREAT WATER! I run a 19 Daytona out there all day long.  ;D

that way forkedup doesnt feel alone? im telling you guys this isnt a socal lake or havi havi is over crowded and seems like almost all socal lakes are directional with speed caps...i have only been on big lakes and river...mead has always been good awesome lake big boat small boats all welcome...night boating yessir...come on in the water is fine...i think alot of you guys would really enjoy something should i say different? alot of people ask about the chop...yes it can get choppy, but that is mainly in the open basins...me n terry have been out there countless times and everytime it's been flat...i would like to see everyone make it

I haven't been to mead since a kid, probably 25 years... what's near Temple Marina?   Temple Marina doesn't ring a bell...

Before the wifey gets too big (little one on the way) her last trip is going to be around March/April.  It may be nice to head up to Mead and meet up vs. staying in Havi as we normally do.  This trip won't be in the jet -so crossing the basin(s) shouldn't be too big of a deal in the new boat.  Any lodging in the area or suggestions?

Sombody needs to check crossing the dam on the weekends.......... Some of the roughest water my boat has ever been in was at Parker last year. Check out our Mead posts and look at the water, and not another boat in sight

the only people who would half to cross the dayum dam is local vegas people everyone else can come in from the 40 and arizona is actually where temple bar is located to that is self explanitory...and honestly ill be on a mini vacation so i dont give a damn how long it takes really...are you in terry? not only that the snails pace gives me a chance to sight see a peice of american history

2 sav the way i see it...you got a month then a couple test sessions to make sure your good and come on up i know you got other projects this is happening in march so you can get them rolling and be good by aprilish on the other two...everyone talks about time i work 2 jobs been hard at it since 6 this morning now its almost 8...time management per say less time at the puter = more time with the boats< equivelant to bullhead math...what im hinting at is we would love to see you there!

Yeah, we might be able to get a major break on that. All of us on the same floor, adjoining rooms........Then again, I remember a wedding we did that for about 12 years ago. None of my family is allowed in or near the Holiday Inn in Oil City Pennsylvania as a result.  ::)

Im trying right now, ordered my top mount starter and am trying to install my hoses and its not working :banghead:

i should just buy all new shiat  or sell the boat and buy another ;D

Bob I think was the guy me n skip talked to sounded excited to have us "lord knows we wont be invited back" the word on the street is that weather sould be high 70's to low 80's water will still be chilly...skip is locking down a fishing cabin right now and so there will still be 2available...basically the marina is ours...because up untill me n skip called there were only 2 rooms booked...i couldnt get a room rate discount, but i hope to see you all there soon

as far as i know everyone will be staying in the rooms available in the marina...also a campground right there if someone is towing with an rv...hookups are 16 a night so that isnt so bad...

Room is booked. Bob is the guy's name @ the hotel, he said the rest. and store will close about 5ish, the bar will be open til about 8 or so, unless we're in the bar, spending money and having fun, then they'll keep it open as long as wee need! the weather should be high 70's to low 80's, water level should be nice and high. Found a nice cove on Google Earth for some relaxin, possible racin?

Take I-17 north, and then I-40 west to Kingman. Take Highway 93 north out of Kingman, and then just past Milemarker 20 make a right at the Temple Bar exit. Temple Bar is located 28 miles from Highway 93 turnoff.

From Los Angeles: There are two options to choose from.

1): Take I-15 north toward Barstow/Las Vegas. Then get on the I-215 east to the I-515 south toward Downtown Las Vegas/Phoenix. I-515 then becomes Highway 93/95 south. Continue on Highway 93/95 south to Boulder City. Go past the Vons in Boulder City and turn Left to continue on Highway 93 toward the Hoover Dam (watch for the signs). Go past Hoover Dam. Between Milemarkers 19 and 20, you will see a sign saying "Temple Bar Resort, use Left lanes'. Turn left. Temple Bar is located approximately 28 miles from the turnoff. YOU WILL HAVE TO GO OVER THE DAM THIS WAY

2): Take I-15 north toward Barstow/Las Vegas. In Barstow, take the I-40 east toward Kingman. In Kingman, Get on the I-93/95 north toward Las Vegas. Just past Milemarker 20, make a right turn at the sign for Temple Bar Marina. Temple Bar is approximately 28 miles from the turnoff.

also guys just a heads up on the road from 93/95 to temple bar marina...it can be curvy at times and they sneak up quick i dont wanna see someone off the road just dont get comfy...i beleive like one or 2 turns come quick...the road isnt a bad road...and its downhill the whole way so watch your breaks...

Thanks Keith. Having the new job I cant really take any time off yet. I am going to try to get out to LSA a couple times this year. Just cant schedule anything yet.

Friend of mine has two of those, one a full Boston Bull Terrier, the other one a French version, (Whatever THAT means, maybe because he's stockier and hates Americans, I dunno), had to rescue both of them on more than  one occassion when they're chasing my dog, a Springer Spaniel, into the pool and follow her in.  :-\

I'd agree on the first description, pretty small anchor. Keep a rope on them if they even think about getting in the boat with you. But I'd also bet it'll only do that ONCE if at all, lol

I gotta tell you about the cat. My late wife's cat. This is gonna  be a long one, I'll forewarn the uninformed about my posts.

hated this Phucker. male cat, neutered, all that, like 19 years old as of December. Used to attack me if I went near Cin, and then  when I'd toss him across the room, he'd go piss or shit on something of mine. Did that even if I DIDN'T do anything to him. Cin had him since she found him in a alley as a kitten. Phucker was tossed out my his own mother if you ask me. DAm Thing used to walk through the room and stare me down to see how it could ruin my day one way or another. Climb on the counter and dig out what was cooking in the crock pot or open the cupboards and knock out all the pots and pans. All sorts of evil things. Much more but I'm trying to be breif.

Made it my point, to try and off the thing as natural as I could. At 19, how good could it's heart be? right? :banghead: Walk up when it was sleeping, scare the snot out of it quite regularly, tossed it into the pool more than once (Didn't get any action for a month or so after THAT one). Thing just WOULD NOT DIE.  >:D Turned out it didn't like Anti-Freeze either, something someone told me to try. I even resorted to rubbing bacon on the som byatch (True story, hell OJ got way with MUCH worse) and sicking the dog on him thinking.......well.......I dunno, surely she wouldn't hate the dog...... Nope, all the dog did was chase him down and lick him for an hour (hmmmmmm Light bulb goes off........Peanut butter's got nothing on bacon...........). Anyway, Something about women and cats, dunno, never really understood women either, but like my grandfather always said, do NOT mess with them. Anything that can bleed for a week straight on a regular basis and not die, you dun wanna mess with.

Don't get me wrong, I'm an animal lover. Just that this thing was an angel when Cin was around, but left to his own devices or when I was around alone, he was like the cat on Pet Semetary. Pure evil. After Cin died, about a month in fact, I took it to the vet to have him put down. I felt bad and honestly tried to make up with the cat, given what happened, and spoiled him rotten. That morning he went on the one way trip, he took a dump on MY pillow!.  Last straw.

That was that, took him to the vet. They try and console me about the whole thing, hell I was ready to throw a kegger! They asked if I wanted his body or ashes back, I was like, oh Hell no, this thing has already pissed and crapped on most everything I own, I am NOT putting his ashes on more of my shit! nor am I burying it anywhere near the same! Then they asked if I wanted to be around when they did it. Again, hell no, while it might be satisfying to a certain degree, I don't need that last look of "I'm still gonna mess with you from the afterlife" thing. I already tried on multiple occassions to kill it, good luck to you, I told them.

Funniest part was my dog. Used her leash to take the cat. Minute she sees a leash she's uncontrollable, wants out the front door for a walk. Now she see's the leash and hides under the end table. Last time that was used he didn't come back, she ain't stupid!.

Long and morbid, but OHHHH so SATISFYING!

Her name is Callie.....shes 5 months old and very timid....not agressive one bit.....except with her new toy duck i got her...she really doesnt like it.

once she fills out, she will be fitted for a life jacket and will become a boat dog weather she likes it or not.

I don't think they'll blackball us, they'll probably just start asking for boat information before reserving rooms and add an extra fee for jet boat owners.  ;)


Oh, you have a jet boat, that'll be $80.00 for day use & ramp fees.    But the guy ahead of me only paid $20.00 to get his bass boat on the water.   Sorry sir, after the last jet boat group came through we had to raise the prices to make up for all the damage "the place will never be the same".    >:D

Ok so this weekend (one week before the meet) I thought I was going to do a quick test and adjust the timing and floats in the carb...well no way winds are high for today and tomorrow....so it looks like hopefully this week sometime...and if not it looks like early early friday morning ill half to do it...this isn't what I wanted to do working on the boat while out with everyone...

All I have to say is:  What a Great effin time!

Other then almost running out of gas....TWICE (Thanks to Crewchief and Chromey for the fuel) we had an awesome time and look forward to the next one! Other then Nordies bilge pump taking a crap and him almost sinking trying to get to the ramp, a water hose coming loose and flooding "Cock a Doodle Moo", and a new battery there were no incidents!

Can not tell you guys how nice the water conditions were(although the water was COLD), Glassy water, No wind, and a bunch of good friends!

There were a bunch of pictures taken by a bunch of people so I am sure there will be more to follow when everyone else gets home.

Just a borrowed boat! Needed a lake day and everyone being there made it a great day! I dropped in at Callville bay and did the 26 miles to Temple Bar Marina across the lake, and with the conditions it was awesome!

We left Temple Bar at 6pm  and hauled ass back to Callville (Boat has lights) and the water was so flat it was insane. Got back just as it got really dark.

I think we had eight boats. Should  be tons of pics commin. Yea, we had the hotel, bar, ramp and beaches to ourselves. We had all the boats and trucks right out side our rooms at the hotel, just threw out the BBQ's right there in the parking lot and partied down. No body said shit to us, hell we're on a first name basis with half the staff out there now.

alright so im home! effen A what a kick ass weekend...yes my boat damn near sank...the water was just over the floor by the time i made it into the marina...the worst part was when the g/f told me i had to turn around and go back to the beach where my truck keys were...i was like what!!!!!!!!....anyway the marina sold me a used bilge pump for 25 bucks and i got it all installed last night...then i swapped tanks this morning before i launched...so i was sitting there idling and was going to the dock to pick up the old lady and my boat crapped out! it would idle and thats it...so i think i picked up some sut or something and did some cloggage...pure comedy this weekend and a way kick ass time! i cant wait till next year! there is talk about making this anual...glad to meet new people and have some really good times...picks to be posted tomorrow...

remember the tahiti has a leak at the transom adapter...well i think it decided to get worse after a little bouncing around "especially friday" it really started to leak good...when i pulled it out of the water there was a solid drain coming from between the t/a and the transom...skip you really missed out...and from this point forward pleshing is now skipping! the pot luck was a hit as well everyone had excellent food way good!

Had a great time, but the drive is a bit much.  Hit the road at 3:00pm and didn't pull in until 10:00pm (including a short stop at Sonic in Kingman).

Really had a good time boat'n and BS'n with everyone, can't wait to do it again.

 ;D ;D What a fun trip. Near disaster a couple of times. We just got back in and unloaded. pics uploading now. Didn't get any of the near sinking of the Udder one, nor me nearly running over crewcheifs boat. Newbies  :banghead: (I apologize for that!, wasn't intentional rookie mistake, quick thinking on the part of Mrs Crewcheif on the starter and throttle tho).
 
We first got there friday and dropped in the boat, Nordie was having header problems, and so I just tooled around the marina a bit before dark. Pulled out and we all took pics and BSed, was great. Took off the next morning and once out of the marina, immediately knew I had a hot rod on my hands. Scared the living death out of my kids, didn't help that a water line from the outlet came off the header T and nearly sank the boat. (No joke, it was DEEP, much deeper than Josh's issue!), barely made it to a rocky outcropping to shut it down and find the problem. I forgot to tighten 1 hose clamp  :banghead:. Oh well, coulda been worse. Blued the crap out of brand new headers tho. And did worse to them, (Will post pics later I took before we left Temple bar today.)

I thnk Chromey and Mrs Crewcheif took the bulk of the pics. I left the kids in charge, and that took convinceing to get them back in the boat with me, so not many on my part  :banghead:

Then we noticed the water outlet cover leaking, but not much, just enough to fill up the little pocket where the dipstick goes and milkshake the oil. Ran it a little more, then  my daughter had to pee, so went back to the marina and it was getting worse. Needed to change out the Break-in oil anyway, had been about an hour and a half of run time, so due anyway. The Boat shop there had it's second SCJB customer in pumping out the oil, and the guys made me a free gasket for the outlet that I put on while they changed out the oil and put in the Hot Rod oil. Took then a good hour to find a filter to fit, but everyone at that marina was fantastic!.

Went back around the motel to find Nordie working on his bilge pump, then I took my son and dropped in and hot rodded around a bit. (Not nearly as hard as I hit it the first time). I think I may have a contender. Crewcheif brought his timing light, and I never felt the need to use it, boat ran fine at 10 degrees initial timing I set it at. I did move it by eyeball about 2 degrees more later on Sunday, but ran fine, other than some minor carb tuning issues. she's ready to go!

Then the headers start leaking. Wasn't much, and I ran it all day Sunday that way anyhow. I figured I cracked them, but then I took pics this morning and see that I actually burned holes in the bottoms of the tubes before the water injection bungs on all eight of them. Perplexing, but could well be running WAYYYY to rich. On go my older, and a tad rusty, bassett's with baffles and someone to look at the carb.  We'll weld up the Rewarders and maybe have them rechromed.

Thanks everyone. You helped me build it, and helped me get used to it! My kids ran with me in it this morning before we left, IT WAS COLD at 8 am!

Now to get it fully ready to ante up to my bet about the bull horns! I'll let the victim explain that!

I never saw that pic fefore, I'll have to dig up the one of us getting towed by a sailboat.

yea yea, wanna go finish my floors. Found some stuff to rub on them to make 'em look "wet". Spent all day cleanin them damn floors, not done yet. May go float a little later.

just peeked back on this! looks like maybe again next year...huh? would be cool to make it annual type of deal...i know the marina people loved us...probably was the highlight of the off season...
