Title: So tell me about temple bar

Im already thinkin about the spring I keep hearing about temple bar. How is it? Does the hotel have a bar or is there a hotel? fuel? hows the boating? and last how far from socal??

Don't even think about it  ;)

The drive is brain numbing, the bar is horrible, the "hotel" was scarey, the water had 3' swells...  :banghead:

And I loved it  ;D


Really the place was great if you don't mind being the only people there. 

The fuel was reasonable for pump grades. 

The rooms were clean but lacked some items... If you stayed in the motel rooms you didn't get a refridgerator/kitchen area and if you stayed in the "fishing cabins" you didn't get a shower  :thumbdown:

I wasn't lying about the drive being brain numbing, especially if your coming from SoCal  :thumbdown:

We should get a houseboat this year. We could just leave it at the dock , no fuel bill, or beach it somewhere. If we went back to that beach we were at we could camp all over the HB and the beach.

Ive always done boat camping but i have been getting spoiled with the hotels lately and I really like going to the bar after we get off the water... but im not opposed to camping. any one got estimated milage from socal??

My favorite place on Lake Mead by far...I've been going there since I was a young kid. Although Im usually there in a bass boat, the weather and water conditions are generally pretty good. It does have its days, but it is by far the calmest part of the lake at any given time, and the clearest too. Considered to be "Gin Clear" waters by us redneck fisherman, you can see the bottom nearly 60ft down. The motel isn't bad, but I enjoy sleeping on the bow of my boat anyway (the bass one), so I may not be a good judge on this.

The Cafe has the best Biscuits and Gravy around and makes the drive from So Cal well worth it. I've been trying to get RiverSled out there for years now, but with his slim 79' Hornet, and the horror stories he's heard from me about crossing the Virgin or the Lower basin with 6' swells, it's been hard to get him out there.

I would definitely say that if your boat is under 25 ft and you want to guarantee some lake time on your trip to Mead...5 days out of 7 will be good in T-Bar  O0

yeah i love temple bar and i will be there in march....pretty awesome and all the marina people are really cool...they will literally bend over backwards to make your stay the most enjoyable...the houseboat idea i would half to pass i'll stay in the motel....i think i may get a kitchewn suite so we can cook n shit...keith if you need a shower again i'll give ya my spare key again haha!!!! i was actually telling someone that story yesterday funny it was mentioned....so is this the next planned socal meet up???????? ill get a thread started if so

sounds like its the plan and then im back in laughlin the first weekend in april

Im going to shoot for having my boat done and come down Ill need an escape from winter by then and it looks like it would be fun to hang out with you guys. if you want a mind numbing drive for me it will be 1574 miles so I was wondering do you only stay 2 days or do some stay longer
