Title: Half a** guide to big river
Post by: sandeggo on June 16, 2009, 08:39:55 AM
since we will have some new people coming out this weekend i guess id throw this together really quick.
from the top down
day park where u guys will launch
My park
rope swing, on AZ side just below the bridge
a cove/ beach everyone refers to as shell beach. alot of lost lake hardware hangs there.
i havent been down river all season so maybe someone else can confirm there still accessible and all good.
below this red spot theres lost lake, water wheel, ahaquinn, etc. id bring some gas if you go any further than the beach.

next map
Day park/dock restuarant
big river inn
nice sandy beach, when the water is all the way up you lose the beach
light blue spot above it, stay to the right of the river, its a long nasty rockbar.
Wally beach, i spend a ton of time there
island across from wally, alot of the big river rv park guys hang out here. the beach has alot of shells on it.

note: above the parker bridge, just below the dam there is a cove on the left hand side that can get pretty busy as well.

Does anyone know what the water level is like during the week? Is it normally less than or about the same as the weekends?

Plan on going to the day park next to BR Inn on tuesday to check it out, never been there before.

Other than the website that shows the flow of the dams, is there any specific markers you guys use to gauge when it's OK to launch and run up river?

Or do you just wait til noon?  ;D

. That's what I was told by blender. Just a rule of thumb however it does change when I show up apparently.

Yes, general rule Thursdays are the Low water day @ BR.
Summer of 2015 sucked all year around for water due to the drought.

When there is water in our lagoon then we boat, otherwise we hang out and fish, drink and beat up the golf carts.
