I will be going to Lake Martinez for the 1st time March 28-31. Most likely camping at a spot Marcsrollin suggested. I will be bringing my family. Anyone else thinking of going or want to meet up? I could also use any recommendations/tips on launching or water conditions.

Have fun man. Only decent tips are, if you think you see sand, go WOT. When in doubt, throttle out

My fav spot. You're going to love that place. It gets real shallow at times in places so like pw said if it gets thin hit the gas. >:D The launch ramp at Martinez is mostly dirt, not right at the water but ? 10 feet up or so it changes into dirt. I am not going to try it this year with my motorhome but it is easily doable in any 2WD pickup. I've heard many changes were done at Martinez so this may not be an issue anymore. ? . There are lots of sandbars to play at and many of them will have small "crowds", some are more family friendly than others and you'll know when you get to it (quickly) if it's a family friendly sandbar or not. Have fun.

I remember Marc mentioning bungalows in a different thread. Might be nice to have a place to shower at least 1-2 nights. Anyone know anything about these?
-
I've heard that those bungalows were going to be torn down but ??? I called my friend Mike to try and get the number for those bungalows but he didn't answer. I'll get back to you, unless Marc chimes in first because he probably has the number also. Many a drunken stupor of a night spent on the porch of those bungalows. ;D

They got all kinds of destruction going on in Martinez right now, haven't been there in a few months so I'm not sure what's going on.
I was thinking about driving down there and visiting some family and friends, easters always the first weekend trip for us, but my boat ain't running yet.
I launch at Fishers landing, it has room for 9 boats to be launched, and is all ashpault.
Not sure if the bungalows are still there or not, you could camp next to The Other Place store, since it's not quite hot yet.
When you're going up River try to remember the route you took up to miss sandbars, and try and follow the same way down

Came back early from the Martinez trip
I decided to tent camp because my Mother-in-law had never done it and really wanted to try :screwy:
Other than being a bit cold at night the first night went well.

Boat ran well once I got the battery charged back up... I left the key on when testing it a couple days earlier :banghead:
Drove up the river a ways and found a nice spot to hang out. The weather was great Maybe 90* and tolerable water temps.

Went back to camp to make some flank steaks and chicken and found a camp that looked like a tornado had hit it. My tent was collapsed and stuff was everywhere. At first we thought theft, then maybe animals, but it was the wind. It got so crazy one of my tent poles snapped. I said Phuk it packed up the camp and went to a Hotel. The plan was to go back today, but the wind had gotten worse and I decided to just go home. It was an awesome Saturday though. Only boat mishap was a stuck tank switch on the way back to the ramp. I ended up just swapping the gas lines then of course it switched like it is supposed to :sly: I think I have my wife convinced to go to the Parker trip now if it can be scheduled.

Sounds like you had fun, I think...
Parker will be rougher water than Martinez, FYI.
