We did Yuma (Martinez) last year for Labor Day and loved it.  There was probably close to 500+ boats on the water/sandbars but the water was still better than Parker with just a couple boats.

We enjoyed it so much we went back again two weeks later.

I'm looking forward to making several trips to the lower river this year.

martinez was fun but not my favorite place. the cops screwed with us a lot that weekend and the channel in and out got way to crowded when it was time to come in. so i waited till dark and i had to walk my boat back to the marina cause it kept running into sand bars.

great times. but i will most likely be in Havasu on memorial

aquaholic i like how you say it kept running into sand bars, did you have it on auto pilot?you gotta know that part of the river, most of the time hugging the tolees is the best way to get up and down river. i love that place.i dont drink so when i get hasseled i like to give them a hard time.

i just started going there last year.. cheaper then Lake Havasu City, the casino has a bomb breakfast, drinks are cheap, and you can drive a golf cart everywhere... its awesome.. plus the river isnt far from it.. so i dont have to fight with the choppy water too much

ya everyone says havasu has huge chop. well martinez is the only place that i have gotten all 22 feet of my boat out of the water. Trying to hug the toolies with 15 boats around you trying to do the same thing was a pain in the ass.

My fav trip so far was boating from mcintyre down to martinez and back in one day. that was awesome. And shows i know a little bit about reading the lower river. been going there forever. It was just real shallow once the sun went down in martinez. but the bars absolutely rock!!! i was just always checking my six for cops. I did not drink on the water the whole weekend when i was down there so i had nothing to be worried about but they still seem to kill a good time just by lurking around. Oh and officer Carver is my old gunnery seargent when i was in the marines. LOL... small world

so if you ever get poped down there drop my name. lol might get you out of trouble might get you in more. its a crap shoot

i dunno if its so much the big boats than the breeze that kicks up in the afternoon.  once u start to feel a breeze expect the whole lake to turn horrible.

BTW, what is your full name?

Ya know, I don't drink when piloting because it kills my fun having the worry.. the past weekend in parker was awesome with no cops, I tied the boat in my slip, hit the Cantina for three beers and the woman got done with her margarita bucket and said there was a surprise at the dam after a boat ride... I had a smile bouncin off rev limiter all the way there and I knew there was no po-po.. off topic, yes, but sure was a worthwhile ride(s)!!

Ive done every memorial day of my life down there on the willow beaches,  always launched at circle beach and headed up or down a few beaches to drink and throw shoes like we have done the last 27 years and my dad for probably 20 before that, BUT, last year was my last. I said it was my last the year before as well but love it down there. Anyways your guys "party" involves being total assholes. Every year its people either starting fights with us or blocking the ramp with a truck that has a sign on it that says "tows $20" and making us back into the soft shit and get stuck. Last year some asshole parked his pontoon purposely blocking the ramp so we couldnt get out and he was sitting in it! I walked over from the next beach and asked him nicely to move and he said no and if you have a problem with that go talk to them. I had to go pull out at the avi. Everyone down there got this complex of "locals only" mother fuckers ive been on these beaches and funning around mohave valley my whole damn life. Yes we're weekender sbut who  gives a flying fuck!  Sorry if this isnt you directly but this shit is not what we go to the river for. I got all fired up typing that.

They actually have to have two reasons to pull you over.
Aka- no lights and speeding.

We were at circle beach or the one next to it on a non holiday weekend the year before last, and set up camp around 10:00 am on a Saturday. We had a 25 ft party barge, a jet boat, and a sea doo. The locals started showing up around 2:00 to 3:00, and the next thing we know, are surrounded on both sides. They kinda just took over and let their kids run amok through our camp. There were several MMA wana bees, and after they got tuned up, decided to play tap out, and ended up into our canopy. My daughter tried to stop them and ended up getting punched in the nose by one of them. There was 30 or 40 of them and only 8 of us. My son went ballistic and went after the first one he found, which turned out not to be the one doing the hitting. This then started a mini riot which ended with us throwing our stuff on the pontoon and leaving. The only good thing that happened was the fat F***ER that hit my daughter got the S**T beat out of him in front of all of his friends by his mother right there on the beach after she found out he hit a girl. This is the reason we do not go out on holiday weekends. We stick to the week before or the week after.

We have a place in Willow Valley so we would not have to drag our stuff all over. Going to Blythe from Willow takes just as long as our place in Ca.to Willow. We have learned to avoid the major party areas and weekends, and try to leave before they get tuned up. Can you get to lost lake on the river?

You have to be member and show current registrations on your cars, boats, and watercraft to get a sticker that allows you in the marina. They have a security guard on busy weekends and the care takers at the marina check on non busy days. You can get a guest launch pass but it runs $25.00 a day. They used to let you purchase an associate membership with your own, but have not done that for a couple years. The key is to get a sticker......

I have never meet any of you in person but I am always floating around. We have a place down @ Hitler Shores. I am hoping to have the twin turbo LS powered tunnel out for Memorial Weekend. As far as people taking about hitting sandbars down south..really? I have a 24' deck and it works great. There are also a ton of wakeboard boats running around. Not sure I would have the balls, but see em all the time...

Why are we bumping year old threads?

Anyways, I'll be at Willow. Hit me up Anthony, I'll be around that stretch of river.

Huge fire started up river from Martinez yesterday... The lady and I looked behind us across the sandbar after hearing a loud pop and the toolies were a blazin. You almost needed to keep in the water as the heat from the fire was intense.  We left late am this morn and it was at over 500 acres burnt. Will get pics up soon.

I am looking forward to the 3 day weekend on the water, but I'm not looking forward to the morons that don't know the rules of the River.  Last holiday weekend some jerk just about drove over my son's boat bow because he'd never driven a boat before.
