whats "alot" of gas? I have been reading about this trip and thinking it might make a nice trip for my first outing to the river this winter when the crazies are gone. I run a mild 454bbc and keep my foot out of it mostly cruising at 3300-3500 rpm. I have two 15g tanks (12g?) and sure would like to have a better idea if I could make to the next gas stop too  !  :screwy:

Is the water level ok in the winter to make the run or do I need a guide thru all the rock patches for the first time?

the water level will be lower the longer you wait. but you can check the flow report online. in a jet boat you will mostlikly be fine. the only place to get gas is walters camp. and that is 38 miles north of martinez. and then blythe is about 25 miles north of that. i used one tank on the way down. about 25 gallons. and i used both tanks coming back up river. but i was hauling ass and i raced a few boats. plus i had 7 people in my boat. the trip is awesome. you go thru two nature reserves where the river is unmolested. so nice. no boats just nice smooth water and great scenerey. if you have anyquestions just ask. i plan on making this trip many more times now that i have done it once.

and marc i tried to call you but i only have your name in my phone not your number. not sure what happend but i must have deleted it.

Is this possible with a prop boat *gasp*?

It is possible with a prop, just have to know how to read the river. Water gets pretty low in the winter. Water level should be good to the end of this month. Seems like they have been lowering it alot more lately. Enjoy.

Marc,

I don't have it either. I think I did at one point but, not anymore. We did try to call you though. Both of us went through our phones and even looked on here to see if your number was up here some where but no luck. We should fix that. Text me your name so I know its you.
