We finaly got it running good. I still think it is a little underpowered. and the pump is making some funny noise. So now that we have a baseline i am sending the pump out to tom at JBP. he is a jet pump wizard..
when i get the pump back i will run it again with the new pump, 440cc motor and new steering cable. if i am not a little scared then i am going with a bigger motor.

That things cool !! Going to get my mini jet on saturday. So when was the mini jet meet up? haha
-
we have not picked a date. I think we will wait to the season is starting back up. Find out where all the builds are. Some of the minis might need a few shakedown runs and some more work before we have a meet. I am thinking mid season next sumer at pirates cove!

Sounds good, it has a hurt motor so im gonna have to either put a new piston in it or get a new motor so that gives me enough time. And pirates is a perfect spot!

It has a 440cc

look for a 750. From what i have found out the 750 is as big as you can go with using the stock pump. Anything bigger and the pump will just not work right. Now i have not tried this yet either. I am puting a 750 from a wave runner 3 in my two seater mini. The people who i could find that knew anything about these little berkley pumps said the most they have put through them wwas right around 70-80hp. and that is exactly what the 750 yamaha puts out. Plus those motors are bulletproof.
I have a lead on a complete jet ski here in ridgecrest with a good 750. i think the guy wants like 400$ for it.but you could use a lotof the parts off of it.
Anyway let me know if you have any more questions. If your 440 is already in need of a rebuild i would just buy a used 750cc two stroke. We had the hydro out with its 440 and it needed a little more get up and go. and that 440 is running great just needs moreballs.
I think 900 is about as big as the two cylinder motors go.Anything bigger will be a three cylinder and then you will have fitment issues. and i dont know if the mini berks will handle the extraHP or not. If i get mine together with the 750 and it seems like it can handle more i will most likely be picing up a 900 ish motor.

Alright ya that 750 sounds like a good deal, how does it run? And heres a pic of the 440 and the engine compartment.

that thing looks pretty clean.
I have not fired up the other motor yet. but compression is good and the carbs look new.Idont think it will be a big deal gettin itfired up.
Whats wrong with the 440? you said the piston was bad right? If the motor is saveable i would just get itrunning with the 440 so you can see if you like it or not. And with that berk pump you have a few options on impeller. I went with a stainless 21degree instead of the stock 17 degree or what ever it is. Should give a lot more top end.
If you do decided to swap motors I might want to try that pipe on the mini hydro to see if it does anything. But either way i dotn think it will be enough and it will most likely get a 750cc motor swap this winter.
anyway looks like you have a solid project to work on.

So i had to pull the motor on the mini hydro to get the pump out of it. So now that the motor is already out i might as well get a bigger one. So starts 440 to 750 motor swap..
Pump should be on its way to JBP this weekend.
