Nissan ns70a2 carb question
« on: May 11, 2016, 10:57:22 PM »
I know it's a shot in the dark here but I had a float level issue on the new Motor so I pulled them both and reset float levels top one was not closing needle and seat so I got that fixed and noticed there are rubber plugs covering the idle jets so my question is why are they there are they maybe shipping plugs someone didn't remove or maybe someone added them because it was really rich at idle because of the needle and seat. It did only run on one cylinder at idle I thought it was only running on one because of the fuel pretty much free flowing into the carb because the needle and seat wasn't closing and it was just to rich to run but now I'm thinking maybe it was only running on the top because of the fuel running thru.

Those are service plugs. If you grab a magnifying glass you should see that its ported under the plug.

Ok cool I just put them back in and put the carbs on hopefully I'll be able to water test soon and get it dialed then start playing with props lol any idea what timing should be at on these? I'm assuming I set it at idle? The timing advances with throttle input. Not sure what to set it at but would like to at least check it.

Also would I gain anything taking the rubber plugs out? Or will it hurt anything

It will Idle like shit.

As for the timing, there should be marks all over that thing where everything needs to be adjusted to. Timing, throttle pick up point and shift should be adjusted regularly.

Look for the manual and look under synchronization and linkage (sync and link), it should spell everything out pretty well....

Cool I'll see what I can do about ordering a manual. Did I tell you we tested it against my buddies ceebee avenger with a 150 merc know to run 50 and we are almost dead even he had to trim way up to get it to start pulling away. and even then it was maybe 2mph faster.

Lol right it is surprisingly stable too with where the trim was set it still rides a little wet but stays flat tried 1up and it just porpoised so once I get my new to me trim motor on I'm going to be able to fly it a little and it should be a blast lol
