Tohatsu timing
« on: March 06, 2015, 09:58:44 PM »
I have no idea what im doin with this motor but it sounds like its out of time its boggy off idle and pops thru the exh every once in a while we just got it and im gonna try to water test it and learn how to work on it tomorrow but is there anything specific i should know? Its a m40c. Trying to get it dialed for the bluewater meet so any help would be greatly appreciated

What motor dude?

A pop on a two stroke normally means a lean condition.

Have you tried some Sea Foam?

Were you running it on a flusher or in the water?

If on a flusher, they run quite lean. Is it popping at idle,or revved up.

It would be considered fairly normal to pop out of the water.  Drop it in the lake and see what it does.

The best way to adjust the idle screw is to seat it all the way in, turn out about four turns. Slowly turn the screw in until it starts to sputter /cough, then back out 1/4 to 2/3 turns.

Ok after the dip a little sleeve came out i didnt know was in there and it was all gunked up cleaned it up and while spraying carb cleaner thru the idle jet it now comes out the hole behind the butterfly. So tomorrow its goin back together and to perris if all is well on the trailer. Thabks again on the info and ill get a can of seafoam to run thru it in the fuel tomorrow aswell hopefully it works because we already have our reservations at the quality in for the march meet and im running out of cash to spend on this thing.

If you haven't already, you need to hook up with Tony (aqauholic) and also like Addictor Boats on FB. They have lots of mini boat owners. Not just Addictors.
