UPGRADE SUGGESTIONS FOR DEAD 140HP

When the day comes to say goodbye to the 73 Mercury 140HP, I am leaning toward financing a new 225HP-300HP evinrude or mercury on a 73 KONA 19FT. It still isn't Flat-Bottom 2000HP Big Block to a PROP FAST but should get up N go.  Any suggestions or thoughts? Top Speed??

Don't put a $15k engine on a 73 Kona. 

Much over 150hp will be unmanageable if it doesn't break the transom outta that boat....I'd the recommend a mid '80s merc 2.0L 150hp V6....they're light, cheap, and faster than what you've got now.
