Thanks Daniel.... The guy i bought the boat from told me it was JE so i just believed him.. I haven't even picked the boat up yet. since no split bowl then no snoot I guess.  But PD would work on it i guess.   Do you think that would be of any value for top end speed?  Whats your thoughts of JF pump ???

My future plans for the boat is to for it to be reliable and hit 60 mph.  Not to be quickest in the world by any means. My engine by all calculations should be 448 hp at 5600 rpm. Happy spot should be  between 5000 and 5600 somewhere.  500# of torque to about 5000. Probably power to spare i guess but its just for crusin and occasional burst.

I've included a pic of the hull with pump attached.  Maybe my assumption of "JE" pump is wrong.. Could you clue me in to what it may be if not a JE?   And by the way,,,,,, Thanks for the replys.

Gosh we got Je, Jg, Jc, etc pumps,, Is there anywhere you guys know of to get dimentions etc on any or all of Berks pumps?? for instance--- intake size , nozzle size,, impeller etc..
I just bought a 74 Taylor SS boat. It has a JE pump and I know nothing other than that.  I have a 455 olds built already to go in it.. It is going to peak out at 5500 rmp with apppro. 400 Hp.  I think but i'm not sure that a JE pump will will work for that but I want to get the most bang for the buck so I'd Like to know what Impeller to run. Also,, the "a"cut and "b" cut thing confuse me because I've never dealt with that and will call myself ign. on that subject but I would love to know why what does what in the world of impellers etc..
One more thing,,, can i put a pd on a JE pump? Can I put a JG bowl on it to use a snoot??

Somtimes,, the obvious things are overlooked.. Since you said it was running fine and then starting overheating because of grass in intake,, I'd tend to think that the running hot of the engine was a great indicator of the problem.. 7 and 8 cylinder prob has water in um mixed with unburned gas..Oldsmobiles don't like "no oil or hot oil" situations. Spark plugs and carb rebuilds etc are preventive maint. and won't fix overheated or abused engines.  An engine overheat and oil overheat lights are cheap insurance against these delimas.
Sorry bout your bad luck.  But on the bright side,, you will have a new engine.
