Thanks for the great info, I hadn't thought about the disposal after the fact. Not sure how close the nearest shop is, but will be looking for one tomorrow. Hopefully I can get it done for a reasonable price. Thanks again

Wow, thanks for the fast replies. I was afraid someone was going to tell me I'd have to do it manually but both give me some hope of an easier way to remove it. The chrome shop or acid bath sounds alot more promising. Mobboss, you talk about dipping it. Is this something I can do, or the shop do for me?  If I can do it would I use muratic acid?

Hello, been a regular reader here for some time, but am looking for any advice/experience in removing chrome.  My pump bowl was chromed at one time, but age hasn't been good to it and it is starting to flake off in several areas, but only about the size of a pencil so I want to remove it all to refinish with paint to match the hull.  Anybody had any success in this area?  I have tried to get a thin blade under the edge around some of the bare areas, but the chrome doesn't seem to want to flake off.  I'm open to any suggestions.
