Boats For Sale / Re: Free Southwind 18' Hull
« on: April 17, 2015, 06:56:20 AM »
I am located in hacienda Heights 91745. I will be going to san diego to put up the trailer for my new boat this weekend but will be back sunday afternoon. I have decided to keep both new trailer and trailer w/ southwind on it in my drive way till I go pull my new boat out of the water next weekend 4/25. So this will give a bit more time for someone to come pick up the southwind. I will keep the price at $800 for all SCJB members but it will be on craigslist for $1k since I have more time now.

Hull has rotted transom. Anyone interested in a free southwind 18' outboard hull. I am going to be parting out the motor and trailer and will be left with the hull maybe even leave the gas tanks in it. You can text me at 626 533 5040. It would be ready by Sunday for pick up. You must have your own trailer. Or take the boat with running motor and trailer for $800. I need it gone sunday as I have a new boat coming and have no where to put this one.

Boats For Sale / 18' south wind ski boat
« on: April 15, 2015, 08:28:20 PM »

$1000 picked By Thursday 4/16. New boat comes this weekend and have no where to put this one.

Boat is a 1974 southwind semi vee with the original 1974 mercury tower of power 150 hp outboard that runs just fine. Overall condition is pretty good paint in good shape and so is interior. Its not a fancy boat by any means. No bells and whistles. Just a run quick boat. The transom however is rotten and needs to be replaced or braced. Comes with tandem axle trailer and full canvas cover. Just replaced 3/4 hydraulic hoses for motor trim. Have the 4th new one as well just haven't put it on. I have all the paperwork and everything is up to date. I would just part it out and make better money but need it gone due to new larger boat.

Text for a time to come check it out. 6265335040 Tim

I am going to put my 1989 Gemini back on. It is several places below with description and photo's. I really want to move it. Will consider trades for vehicle or four wheel atv.

Is it still in Oregon or back in Socal?

Ok guys I know this isn't a jet so admin feel free to delete if needed.

Selling a 1974 southwind semi vee with a 150 merc tower of power. Everything is in great condition other than transom is starting to rot out and has some de lamination.

Curious if anyone has any input on a good asking price for it. Im looking for $1500 seems fair for someone who wants a running project. Let me know what you guys think.

Motor kicks right over and runs fine. Paint in great condition and has tandem axle trailer and full canvas cover. Interior also in pretty good condition. All paper work in hand. Also have a full shop manual for motor.

If interested feel to contact me at 626 533 5040.

Selling my 18' 1974 southwind jemcraft semi vee. Boat has a mercury tower of power 150 hp outboard. Hull and paint in great condition and just waxed and buffed. Shines real good. Has full canvas cover and sits on a tandem axle trailer. Interior in good condition some sun wear but nothing bad at all no cracks. All titles in hand and everything current and up to date. Also has ski pylon for pulling skiers. Seats 6 comfortably. Just put brand new hydraulic hoses on power trim. Just got the boat back from Boats Plus and NEEDS CARBS REBUILT STARTS UP BUT WILL DIE WHEN RUNNING. REASON FOR THE LOW SALE PRICE. I just can not put more money into it. Located in LA county 91745

ASKING $2000 OBO MUST GET RID OF IT.

yeah i dunno what was up with that guy.  i even hit him up when he put it back to 1499 on CL.  i figured for that much i could slap some new carpet in it, cleaned it up and sold it for twice that much.  hey you're ready for the lake/river now!

Yah I saw him up raising and lowering the price every other day. Called him a few times with no answer after the first time I spoke to him and left a vm saying I have the cash in hand. Last time I called him he finally answered I said hey calling about the boat and he just hung up. Something was up with that post. Oh well worked out better in the long run anyway.

congrats on your float.  outboards and stern drives are right hand steer.  and that v6 2 stroke whacker is probably gonna do a decent mph all weekend and only sip a little bit of gas doing it.  i think pat/lbhzsz is the only one here with an outboard who can give you insight on what to do with it. id imagine a set of plugs, change the water pump impeller for good measure and go boating.

Thanks Ka0tyk

Yah the guy I got it from just replaced all the and had it serviced so its water ready.I never heard back from the guy with that Bahner I/O but thanks for the offer to go check it out with me. I picked up this for less than the guy was asking for the Bahner so it all worked out pretty good.

Hey all,

Finally purchased my first ski boat and what a difference from the offshore fishing boats I have owned. I got a 1974 Jemcraft Southwind 18 semi Vee with a 150 merc on the back. I got it for a pretty good deal and figured I would be ok with an outboard just wont be able to be as cool and loud as everyone else with jets Just had a few questions I had done some looking around before getting it and saw that the southwind was a pretty good hull and ran pretty smooth with the outboard. Any truth to this? Also I see most of the southwind's were set up with the steering wheel on the port side but this one is set up on the starboard side. Is this do to the outboard or just the way the original owner had it built. Thanks for info and love all the info I have been able to get from PB.com will be on much more now! Here's a few photos.

Boats For Sale / Re: Looking for first Jet boat
« on: May 21, 2014, 07:07:54 AM »
I just boat my first boat in August.. I was also looking at a Haskell but had a Panther pump.. I made a few calls and everyone said stay away from the panthers.. I settled on a 77 Hallett with a Berkley.  Paid $5k and still had to dump another $1k into when I started finding things wrong when it was on the water that I couldn't find wrong while it was on a trailer.. try and see if the guy will meet you and a local lake or river for a test drive =)

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using SoCal Jet Boats mobile app

Since I have owned boats for awhile now just not jets testing it on the water has always been a given. I will not buy it if I can not test it on the water first. Just like you would never buy a car without driving it around first. But yah spoke to a few people and am staying away from the panthers all together.

Yah that miller is very nice and I spend a lot of time in mohave valley AZ so no big deal on the drive. But I actually found one local from a guy on here that I am going to take a look at first  and if it falls through will get in the truck and right up!

The boat I am going to look at is a 1977 ranger model with a 460 BBF and jacuzzi golden eagle jet.

Or a 1980 Haskell with a 360 AMC and panther jet

I know the Haskell would definitely not guzzle as much gas and I dont need a super fast first boat so any opinions one which way to go on these two????

Once again Thanks for all the responses guys.

Hey guys.

First off new to SCJB so hello everyone! Im looking to purchase my first jet boat. Have had deep vee fishing boats for years but never a jet. Basically looking to spend about $2500-3k for a good running boat. Does not have to be anything  special or in perfect shape just reliable. I know that's a little low but hey its all i can afford right now. If you know of any being sold or you have one please feel free to email me or give me a call or text at 626 533 5040. Any info on what I should be watching out for would be a great help too. Thanks all!
