It is dumb to get busted for something like this when you are so blessed, but...

I would much sooner give a Nascar driver (then a ball player) the benefit of the doubt when he says he didn't do it so I will give him the benefit of the doubt until this gets sorted out

Not like he's runnin around with guns in his car hangin at nightclubs til 6 AM or gained 40 lbs of muscle in the last six weeks :sly: I dunno ,I got popped for a drug test when I was younger for a drug I have still never used

whats up GT

Little story just to remind you guys how bad it can be if you're paperwork isn't in order when you purchase somethin-

Bought a boat Dec. 1st last year, paperwork all looked good, title looks good, boat is registered to the guy I'm buying it from so thats nice, but the boat hasn't been registered for a few years so its lapsed.

Fine knock a few more bucks off and I'll take it.  And that was my downfall. :banghead:

Go to the DMV and everything is good, but they do a background search and not only is there a lien against the boat and trailer, the bank that has the lien no longer exists, and the lien is in the name of the original owner from 1983, sweet

Luckily track down original owner, send certified mail with release of interest to fill out, get that back fax that to Comerica who bought the nonexistent bank, open case file, do research on history of boat and to make what could be a REALLY long story short,  got the lien releases in the mail today!  So three months or so after I started it is actually my boat

I would love to say this was my fault but my paperwork was perfect,
can't figure out how anyone registered the boat ever, gotta love the DMV :screwy:

So I gotta get this thing fixed, needs new steering, throttle cable and a forward reverse, but i can almost taste it. Rewired the ignition and put in a pushbutton start and the thing fires and runs great >:D

I am sure I will have plenty of retarded questions for you guys over the next month or so,
so thanks in advance and sorry bout the rant

I always wonder what there insurance policy must look like

I've been lookin at these quite a bit cause I'm not sure the Bahner warrants dumping a bunch of money into with the Ford and E pump and all, may just run it for this summer, we'll see

Anyways ran accross this a few minutes ago, its a pdf

outlaweagle.com/2008 Eagle Tunnel.pdf

I think you could almost get one done for 15k new if you had a healthy engine sittin around :sly:

just a thought

Just lookin at em reminds me of doing 360s in the canyon when I was 7 or so just gettin the crap scared out of ya

Yeah I was in a boat one year that had a little "firework debris" land in it, not cool at all lucky the boat was a POS,
Couple years ago I heard they arrested like 30 people down there so we don't really go ashore that night any more

Our pier Is about 3/4 the way to town (mile south of PIT STOP) if ya want to post up there let me know, we usually got our own mortars too

Only thing might scare ya away is we do the family reunion that week every year so theres bout 50 of us there, but tons of kids and all good people and we built the place like a campground so theres plenty of room, may even have our floating dock in this year if the economy ever picks up :banghead:

Yes You will absolutely see the fireworks show, be careful if you decide to drive down there, they launch right over the lake and there are a lot of falling embers, seen some nice boats with burn marks on the seats, They do music in the park that night and it gets pretty rowdy usually.

The 4th is fun up there, if this is your first time I think you will really enjoy it

If you are into small town short track auto racing they have a big weekend that weekend. They usually race all three nights and have better cars than normal its at the Lakeport fairgrounds about 15 minutes drive for ya (1/4 mile banked asphalt oval/ modifieds/ late models)

I'll Pm you as it gets closer and give you my #

Good to know Cole-

We have a hoist so we don't pull the boat out hardly ever, we'll have to look into gettin a sticker

One funny piece of info bout the lake-

There are only three sherrifs boats and 2 jet skis on that whole damn lake , and aside from holidays they are off the lake at 5 all summer long, only go out for calls after that, and they all tie up in Clear Lake so this summer when you are in Nice, you shouldn't see a sherrif after 3-3:30 all week

This Info is from a few years back so don't call me if ya have a run in with 'em

Let me know when you're gonna be up there, there's a pretty cool slough about 5 minutes from Nice we can go tear up one time (Any more than once will attract the sherrif for sure, does every time)

C'mon guys, its' not that bad

April through mid July the lake is awesome, clear and mostly weed free, you can see into it an easy 8-10' making it easy to see the bottom most places

In late July the water starts to get to low, and everything starts growing like crazy, but its only bad for the first 200' at shore then the lake is clear again in the middle

If you went there in the 80s or 90s and haven't been back, I can assure you it is not half as bad as it was then

Ain't nearly as clean as a river though

Beerjet-

Thanks for the info-

In regards to the flooding being "checked" does this mean that the flooding is not a result of say choppy water or sloshing/angling of the boat?

Obviously I will have the thing dialed in on land but CP performances site said that flooding and fire could occur even under good carb tuned conditions if it is not a marine carb, and I don't understand why, is that correct?  (I could see how they want to be "by the book" AND sell more marine parts)

If I can safely run my street carb I would just assume do it, but i mean extremely safely ya know

Thanks
Ty

16
Thanks Nordic

For what its worth I'll probably just get a marine carb, but just to make sure I got this right marine grade for

1. All ignition parts including Alt.
2. All fuel parts
3. All exhaust parts

but as far as the actual engine goes street parts are fine

Thanks again

Hey If you guys come up at the right time you can go to the circle boat races
Lake County style

18
Alright after a little research I would like to change my question

I now understand the flooding problem and the fire/spark arrest qualities of the marine carb

So do I need to get one, even with a open engine?

I have not run this boat yet and would rather fix problems now than later, That and fire doesn't sound that great in a boat that could be full of kids

Thanks for the help
Ty

19
Hey Beerjet- you mind explaining why a marine carb is better suited for an enclosed engine compartment?
And is it possible to use a street carb with the correct scoop, bilge blower, venting etc.

Thanks-Ty

BTW- I don't have an enclosed engine, but do have a street carb, just lookin for some education

KonaCole-

I am very surprised to hear they gave you a hard time at all, where did you put in at?

We only pull our boat out a couple times a year but we don't have a sticker and have never had to go through any inspections

In regards to the hydrilla problem it has been "dormant", for about three years they have only found trace amounts. What makes the lake green in late summer is the algae bloom from the shallow water (average depth is 10-13') sun can get to the actual roots and it grows like weeds, but they have been keeping up with it lately. The algae is also what makes the lake "flip" and kills all the fish, the oxygen level from the algae heats the water to quickly and all the carp die in like three days time.

Thats very cool Cole, I am about ten minutes from there, we rent out our house also you'll have to come check it out while you're up this year maybe you can use it the next

My family gets together in late Feb and makes a calendar, divies the place up, the entire family goes for major holidays so they are out (4th,Labor,Memorial,)
But if anyone has a suggestion on a date let me know, otherwise I will post available dates next month

It would be cool to see a shitload of boats sittin out there.  The lakes been pretty dead the last year or so cause of the economy.

Just realized I got some pics

They're from Sep., when we rebuilt the pier, all thos dots in the lake are 10 pound carp that didn't make it cause the lake inverted so quick, guy up there said it happens every 15-20 years, it was disgusting (lakes usually nice :banghead: I swear)
