Thanks for all the advice guys. I rebuilt carb and it purrs pretty nice. Next question would be about timing. At idle I'm around 16 btdc and at 2k it would appear to be around 30btdc. Does this sound right? Also if I have the boat running out of the water with the hose attached to the t in the front of the motor is it normal for it to heat up really high? I'm assuming since the pump isn't pumping water throught the system that this would be somewhat normal and I need to minimize the amount of runtime while the boat is out of the water.

Scott

I'll post some pics

It's a 79 Tahiti day cruiser. I rebuilt carb and it seems to purr nicely. Hasn't had it in the water yet. It has a berk 12jc jet. The car. Is a 750 vac secondary. I'm not concerned with looks as it will be covered. I'm guessing 6k would be mad rpm but it's just a guess

newbie here and have a quick question? Motor is fully stock but has the hei ignition and Panther exhaust. I was wondering what the best carb and intake would be for this motor? The carb needs to be rebuilt so I figured because it has been sitting for so long just replace carb. I believe it currently has a holly 750. Any help would be great
