Well toke some advice from eveyone and problem resolved had one advance weight sticking repaiered and then set timming at 36 deg at 2500 rpm runs good also starts great have idle set at 1200 rpm  Thanks for the help guys

Thanks guys ill re-check the adv. springs and weights and see if i can get 36 degrees at 3000 rpm without checking it at idle and go from there also if i remember right i dont think last time i played with it that i could get past 27 degees so that would mean that somethings sticking or the advance springs are to stiff are the springs marked for stiffnest once again thanks.

morning i would like to know what the base timming is as ive set it at idle 1200 rpm 13degrees btdc but when i bring the rpms to 2500-3000 rpm i get only 27degrees btdc shoulden i be around 36 degrees stock HEI distributor

I have a 1977 19 foot tahiti mini with a stock 454 and would like to know whats a good comp. ratio to run at on  pump gas and how much hp if any would you gain just by raising the comp.

looking for advise on rebuilding my 454 got the boat as a project and found out one of the cylinders is damaged from not being properly stored so motor needs to be rebored block casting # 3999289 and heads are#353049 . anyways i dont know what this motor has for hp it does say panther marine on the rocker covers id like to do some work to it to bring the hp up as far as i know it has a demon 850 carb and torquer intake manifold i dont want to do much work to the heads but would like to bring the compresion up and change the cam any recomomdation would be much appriceated thanks
