I was trying the boat today. The low hours is with a replacement long block.

Cooling water from jet pump, goes in a pipe from the drive, connecting directy to a hose for the engine waterpump.

Portboard riser has a little water leak from the gasket.
Portboard manifold temp. is quite cool
Starboard manifold temp. is hot (can´t hold my fingers there) in the area of cyl. 2 towards 4 (the two "first" cylinders in starboard)
When operating the boat the tempature meeter is dropping below 100 (min. of meeter)
Max. speed,  RPM meeter reads 4000 - 4100, Speed meeter reads 52 MPH

I´m thinking of this:

A defect starboard manifold
Gasket faliure and Portboard rider
Missing T-stat.
Wrong impeller size, as i think it schould be ideal to have max. RPM at around 4500, with this engine

Advice to proceed ?

@GT, @DAN

Thank you!

I will receive the boat here within a weeks time. I will then know more about how the water intake for cooling is designed. So i will reverse with that. I schould perhaps have waited posting this until i actually had the boat in front of me.

I think i schould inspect the Manifolds/spacers/risers, to see if i need to replace them. That means removeing all parts, inclueding the manifolds right ?

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / FWC full-system for 7.4 with berkeley jet.
« on: September 20, 2015, 01:14:09 PM »
I think the Baja 19 feet is from around 1978, but not shure.

Its got a 7.4 from 1997 with low hours (90) just in freshwater. I can only use it in salt water, and would  like to do a full-system FWC, heat exchanger.

i have read around presshure "problems" with Berkeley, i´m looking for a advice from someone that have experience with the combination of Berkeley jet and FWC system.
