How would you get the jet in the water with a pontoon?  Besides a serious droop snoot the intake would be sucking air.

All in!  Got the kids & dog & floaty's and ready to have some fun!

BTW, no dogs allowed at AVI so we're staying in Needles and will go for a little boat ride in the morning.

You're right.  Spec sheet says 3,500 lbs.   :(

Problem is my "Boss" likes the new Vortec FI 8.1L motor and won't let me mod it.  Only going to get so much speed with 400hp and a jet with a boat this big.

I just hate how this thing spools up in a half second flat and takes 30 seconds to get to top speed.  Makes me think I've got impeller/pump issues.

Nice Essex!  I actually have the same boat as the OP.  I wanted to know about the droop snoot to see if he had success with it.  Ended up calling him and talking for some time.  While the boat is definitely sold, it was interesting to compare stories of similar characteristics both boats share.

I'm going through that whole should I add a droop snoot, wedge, or change impeller to larger size phase.  It sucks because there are no real answers and you simply need to try it and see as every boat is different.  Then if it doesn't work you end up selling the part on ebay for half the cost and chalk it off to experience.

Cool, thanks!  I didn't see it on their website.  Maybe I just need to have my morning coffee then call...

My .02

The only thing I'm worried about is that I'm using a river rock grate right now, so that offers up some shallow bottom idling protection.

If I move to the loader then that protection is gone.  Not sure how critical that is for beaching at Havasu & Needles etc.

I guess just something to think about if going to spend $$$ on blueprinting & rebuilding a pump.

Thanks again for your help.

;-)

What happened to this boat?

Did you sell it or do you still have it?

Where is it now?

I know its a really old thread...  Just wondering?

69 Kona, I'm looking for a TL too.  Who sells this one?

Everyone I've been asking to sell me one says they're not welding any up for a while...
