What an epic!  Haven't checked in for a while, saw your post and read the entire chain.  Looks great!  And you chose a hull worth the investment of your time and love.   My question is about your seats.  I'm impressed you are using aluminum.  Never considered Aluminum.  I'm needing to replace all the original seats in my '76 Eliminator 18'  Bubbledeck which, as you know, is similar to your Hallet.  I have two buckets and a bench seat in back, all 70's tuck'n'roll.  I'd like to replace the current seating configuration with a "cocktail" configuration....where two front buckets appear molded into the two benches facing each other with a short bulkhead (with cup holders!) in front of the engine.  So I am interested in the pro's and cons of the seating decision you made.  Do you have the form?  In any case, have fun!  She's gunna be a Thang 'o Beauty!

Sent from my SM-G781V using SoCal Jet Boats mobile app
ao I built the seat frames with a tape measure and a plasma cutter. I just sized up my boat and my butt and started building. Are you looking for someone to help you build your seats?

I also got the motor in. I do plan on putting it on the dyno. But for now I figured I could get the boat wired and plumbed

Well the weather has sucked the last few months. I haven?t made much progress on my boat. I finally pulled the cover back this last weekend and started on it again, but we have rain coming again Wednesday and Thursday. So I went to the Upholstry shop today to try to get the guy to get my seats done. He is almost done. He has to add some edging around  the edge and make the seat cushions. But they are close.

I finally got the interior of the bubble deck done. All the fiberglass work is done and all is sealed. I am by no means a professional. There are definitely flaws but if am happy with how it came out.

B1 has not worked on my pump yet. He made me a shoe and engine plates. I have been working with Chris on this boat from the beginning. He knows a lot about how to make a boat fast. I guess I am lucky. I know your boat. How long have you had it for?

This is the filler I have used on this boat and my last boat. I have had good luck with it so far. I can buy it at the local paint supply store( Temecula valley paint). The boat is pretty much prepped for gel. I have a little more sanding on the inside of the boat but I should be ready by the beginning of next week. I will just have to wait for some warmer weather to spray.

Filled in all the old holes on the inside of the gunnel. Filled in the old fuel filler hole, steering wheel hole( it was not centered with the seats), forward/reverse lever hole. Lots of very tedious work. I am trying to blend it all so you don?t see the repair after I gel it.

Built my tail pipe. It will bolt into the top of my transom plate right above the jet. It is built out of stainless steel. Not too bad for a washed up construction worker

So one of the old owners of my boat contacted me (sevans01) and sent me a bunch of pics of the bot before I got my hands on it.

I got the boat from a guy in Perris. It didn?t have a trailer because it was stolen, so it was just a boat sitting in the dirt. I got the boat in April 2022 while my wife was on maternity leave. She was so happy for the new addition.

I am currently prepping the top of the boat( filling in old bolt holes and repairing chips/ scratches.)for gel coat. My seats got powder coated and are off getting upholstered right now. I should get the seats back in the next week or so. I will post pics as soon as I make more progress. I have had the bot for 10 months. My plan is to have it on the water Memorial Day 2023.

Getting my engine out back together. Also this is a great tool. The engine is a 489 with 10.3:1 compression. Gm iron heads from a chevelle super sport. 2.25 intake valve/ 1.88 exhaust valve. Heads are ported as much as possible. Everyone told me not to waste my time with these heads but they have been working good. The motor dynoed at 604 hp and pushed my old boat to 80 mph on gps. That boat was heavy. Way heavier then this bubble deck. My cam is 714 lift with 264/272 @.050 on a 108 LSA. This cam is bigger then what I had in the engine when I dynoed it.

I?m kinda in no man?s land with this boat. I?m just now sure how to set it up so I have to give it plenty of room for adjustment.

I left room to move the engine forward 3? so if I have a handling issue due to the lifting strakes, I can try moving the engine first before I grind the strakes off.
