For starters, the rub rail is off. I cut all the bolts that were holdin it. The gap is really tight from the cap to the hull all the way around. How much of a groove do I have to grind between the two.
I'm workin on getting the first batch of pics up. Gonna have to put em on photobucket first I guess. It's sayin they're to big??

I'm starting a big project right before the season starts. 
Heres the plan
Pull the gauges
Fill in the dash
Strip the paint
Cap it (ouch) Superjet I'm gonna be leanin on you for this one
Paint it
New gauges
rewire it (again) (maybe) (probably not)

I'll try and keep the pics and updates flowing. If anyone has any input or suggestions I'd apreciate them.
If anyone in Norcal is a good painter and not a good tradesman, lets talk. I'm a general contarctor and maybe we could work some thing out.

I've watched a lot NJ and CJ videos. They look like an absolute blast. But I gotta be honest, I don't think its for me right now. I boat on the Ca. delta a lot and I think thats about all the "big" water I can handle. Big currents, big boats and big wakes.
About my float... Its an 80' sanger SuperJet, 18'. Full interior. Not sure of the weight.
Its has a 464 BBC. (its an LS6) Its uhhh, warm. Its should make around 430-450hp.
The pump is a fresher 12JG-A. Done in 07'. Not sure of details because I didnt do it.
It has a Place diverter. The pump is in the stock location, as is the motor.
The best I've had it is 76mph. I know I have a good bit left in the motor, as I run it very safe.
Nver really played around with a still launch to much, but from 15-60mph it gets after it really good. So I'm curious to see how it'll do.

Well it looks like we are not going to race the car I work on this year due to the owners budget.
I have been wanting to race boats since I got into them 13 years ago. Now I'm gonna give it a go. I need help figureing out a few things. First and foremost is what class I can put my boat and myself in.... Based on the boats I've ran against in the last year or so, I believe mine can go in the high 11s. Is there a 12 index?? Second is equipment. I was on The Lucas Oil website today and I went through all thier rules and it looks like the only major thing I need to add is a rope deflector. Any thing else you guys can think of?
Btw, I live in the SF bay area so I'm planning on the NJBA deal I've seen, since most of the races seem to be in B-field.
Just need a little guidence. What did you guys learn when you first started, what would you guys tell a new guy to think about or do to be prepared???

Got a break from the rain. I buttoned up the electrical (Thanks Glenn) and gave it a quick fire up for a lil extra motivation to finish. Carpet, upolstery and a lot of cleaning and shes ready.

Look up Camp Far West on you tube. Been during the summer a lot, very hot boat friendly lake. 25ish minutes north of Roseville. Pretty easy drive from Bfield.

Come for a ride in mine..... 
its been great to me. Rides pretty dern good for being flat. I had it at 74 mph in ok water and I could have made a sandwich at the time. One of the drawbaks if you're looking to buy one is, the name. Sangers are gonna cost more cause its a Sanger...

Construction is done on all three seats. I'm gonna sand em down tommorow and seal em up.. Not sure what to use to seal the wood?? Any suggestions? I've read some guys use FG resin, but that seams like a big headache for the upolstery guy (trying to nail/staple through it).

Pics of the front seat construction...
88 kerfs 3/8" oc. I used 3/8 5ply, the kerf goes half way through the fourth ply, found this to be the best for strenght and smoothness through the arc.
I made some extra base cutous and screwed them together. This gives something to to keep the arc nice and symetrical. It is temporarily screwed to the upper part of the form.
Soaked it in H2o for a while. Didn't take very long, as only the outter 1.5 plys had to soak. Bout half an hour. Clamped it for about two hours to let the shape set a little.
Glued, screwed and clamped like a mofo. It was a bit of a wrestling match by myself, but for once I took my time and got it pretty dam perfect.
Here it is, all done and curing.

Funny story, we were there for a week over Labor day this year (unbelievably good trip). We delt with the deputy pictured with your dog. Super good dude. We went on a little beer run (4 boats, 10people) back to the resort one day. On the way we ran across a boat full of...... uh... well they made the lice look like angels. Anyways one of our boats was a very good lookalike to thiers, so on the long 5mph cove back to the HB Mr. Deputy pulled us to the shore, pretty aggresively. Long story short we did NOT match the "people" they were lookin for, happened to be the angels from earlier they were lookin for. Great guy once he figured it out talked boats for about 15 then thier radio went off and they were gone. They returned a few hours later and appologized for the inconvienence, wow. BTW very good boat handling skills from his partner. Pays to play by the rules. Good guys all around.
